Forza Motorsport Update 17: Nine New Cars Debut

Forza Motorsport February update.jpg

The most recent update to Forza Motorsport saw nine new additions from Korean and Japanese manufacturers that can all be acquired through a nice variety of challenges.

Another month, another update to Forza Motorsport, and they are truly spoiling the playerbase with cars from Toyota, Hyundai and a further addition in the form of a Mazda. Unfortunately, for those eagerly awaiting a new track, that will have to wait until May. The developers are promising it will be a fan favourite!

In the meantime, there are more than enough cars from Update 17 to keep players busy. To pick them up, there are a bunch of ways to do so, including new events for singleplayer, multiplayer and time attack modes.

New Cars

The first three cars can be found as the Spotlight Car within the Daily Racers Tour, and they are two Hyundai cars - the Elantra N '22 and i30 N '20 - and the Mazda MX-5 RF '22. Additionally, the Toyota Yaris GR '12 comes from completing the Daily Racers Tour, but hurry as it will need to be completed before March 26th.

Another car earned from completing a set of events is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N '23 (which was recently added to Gran Turismo 7). It is unlocked after completing all six series in the Open Class Tour, which, like the Daily Racers Tour, is only available for a limited time until March 12th.

The rest are in the showroom, and they are as follows: the Toyota GR86 '22, Toyota Camry TRD '23, Hyundai i20 N '21 and last but not least, the Hyundai Elantra TCR #98 '21, which competes in the Touring Car class of the IMSA Pilot Challenge series.

All of the spotlight cars can be driven and subsequently acquired in their respective series as part of the featured Daily Racers Tour. This also includes a pre-existing car in the game, the Cadillac CT5 V Blackwing '22. These events are called Modern Hot Hatch, Luxury & Horsepower, RWD Roadster and Battle Of Sedans.

Patch Notes

In addition to all of this, there are multiple tweaks and bug fixes.

This is the levels of content motorsport needs to be adding monthly if they want people to come back. The previous year was pretty much two cars a month and a track every three or four months which is very poor for a live service game aiming at the casual audience that wants constant new stuff

Haven't touched this title since early days. Not installed now. I never got the FFB working to the point where it made sense to me. Has that improved more recently?

I've got it installed on my xbox and I've never known any game to look and play so badly. Says in quality mode it's 30fps but it's not stable at all the input lag because of it is insane.

Dakar 18, Dakar Desert Rally, MotoGP18, Seb Loeb Rally Evo, V-Rally... Plenty of games running like crap on console.

Dakar 18, Desert rally aren't anywhere near as noticeable. Milestone games like motogp, mxgp, ride 5 all run great and still manage to look good. They've clearly got their heads around unreal 5 too because I bought my son the new monster jam game on xbox and it looks and runs brilliantly

Dakar desert rally runs like crap on every platform, its very unoptimized and has memory leaks not fixed since launch. Why does it need more than 10g vram, just causes stutters for everyone. Thats before we talk about the trash physics that are barely controllable, they somehow annoyed both controller and wheel users at the same time

They used to join the track every two months regularly, but in 2025, they no longer joined the track on a regular basis. And now, things have gotten even worse.

Dakar Desert Rally performs well with my old 6GB VRAM card. There are some visual glitches though, and the game crashing pretty often doesn't help either.

I've got it on pc and other than random fatal unreal errors and it runs fine maxxed out with no stutters at all. 🤷‍♂️

Forza is dead to me.

My days of buying a game, and then having to do incessant grinding to be able to buy a car that I've already physically bought are behind me.

It died when I bought some NASCAR thing to compete in a new race in Forza, missed the last night it was on and now have a pointless car, that cleared my wallet - and now I'm stuck re-doing races I've already done, downgrading cars so I can start their series again... what a solid waste of time.

No Microshaft, I don't want to play that game to the exclusion of any other games I own. I don't have hours a night to rinse and repeat. And no, I won't be going online to be abused by some Forza addict with a controller and a cocaine problem.

I might even have stuck it if there was a stab at making cars align to their real-world versions. Running a sequential shifter and turning off the terrible clutch? That's OK, your vintage racer will appreciate that... and if you are running H and clutch (And whatever meds you need to make that work) enjoy stirring the box with your GT3 car.

I'd happily pay a reasonable price to have an unlock-all-cars option and just enjoy arcade fun, the game is a toil.

Premium
After foolishly falling for the pre-order offer so I could play it early, I was thoroughly disgusted with how broken and ugly the game was at launch. I uninstalled it almost immediately and only checked back on it every few months. Every time I've done that I found that it still looked like crap even at the highest settings.

However, I hadn't checked it out since they added all the ray tracing etc. in December and I just reinstalled it yesterday. To my surprise, at the highest settings it actually looks pretty good now. Definitely not in the same camp as, say, a highly modded AC; but for what it is, which for me is a simple and enjoyable casual racing game I can play with a gamepad on PC, it looks pretty good and it's fun. It'll never be my primary
racing game/sim, but I can finally appreciate it for what it is.

That being said, FH5 continues to look leagues better than FM and whereas I would buy the next FH with no hesitation, I absolutely will not ever be buying another FM title unless reviews are positive across the board after launch.

Reason I dont play FH5 and FM anymore is basically this "...Toyota Yaris GR '12 comes from completing the Daily Racers Tour, but hurry as it will need to be completed before March 26th..."

Who you think you are? I paid for damn thing and now you will withhold content I paid for if I don't PLAY when you want me to play?

This 100%.
This game doesn't own me or dictate my time on the game. The expectation that I have hours to dedicate to it is bullshit.

And no, I'm not going to pay for in-game credits to buy the content I already paid for - like GT6 allowed you to do.
