Assetto Corsa EVO Update Enables Car Customization In Offline Mode

Assetto Corsa EVO Customization Offline.jpg
With its third patch since the Early Access release, Kunos Simulazioni have made car customization in Assetto Corsa EVO available in offline modes.
When it launched in Early Access, Assetto Corsa EVO did not quite have all of the features on board that sim racers were looking forward to for the first release. Server problems meant that only practice and quick race modes were available, with the Driving Academy and Car Customization options not working, most likely due to them being tied to the in-game economy that requires an online connection.

Initially, this also meant that only a handful of the 20 cars in this first release were available until Kunos deployed a patch just a few hours after launch to make them usable in this forced offline state as well. Now, another element joins this list - Car Customizations.

Different versions of the cars are available already by default, but with the deployment of version 0.1.3, players can now put their virtual hands on their rides. This comes with a caveat, however: Customizations will not save when quitting AC EVO, so the next time you fire up the sim, you will have to re-do your customizations.

Meanwhile, two UI fixes regarding key bindings and axis visualization also feature in this third, small patch.

Assetto Corsa EVO Version 0.1.3 Changelog

  • Fixed Settings-Controls UI page issue preventing correct visualization for bound controls icons

  • added axis visualization into the Settings-Controls UI page
  • Car customization is now enabled in offline mode (thumbnails remain in original colours). This allows users to customize their cars for showroom visualization and single player game modes
  • Car customizations are currently reset when quitting the game. Full online mode for all will be enabled very soon.

What are you looking forward to in regards to car customization in AC EVO? Let us know in the comments below and join the discussion in our Assetto Corsa EVO forum!

Has Kunos figured out yet that tying ANYTHING offline to the in-game economy that requires attachment to a server relegates this potentially impressive title to the kiddie console bin? That will be great for sales, but a sad day for the legacy of Kunos Simulazioni.
I'm totally lost on what you're saying here, perhaps it's me being old and not up on the way things work, so...

As far as I see the Game economy will be for the single player 'story/career' mode... if the player wants to play that bit.
The Online stuff will be for racing against mates, leagues and other online races, through a server, and like any other online race sim everyone will have access to all the cars in the race, even a private server needs to know all cars.
So, I see absolutely no reason to require an online connection to play solo. (and I won't be buying it if it does... sorry Kunos, that's the way it is)

It already does require online connection to play offline. Hence why there was only 6 cars at launch. They've only temporarily made available the rest until they sort out the servers. It's a con. It was never mentioned in anything up to launch.

Hurra !! Kids now can paint the cars in pink !! Muhahaha , what a game , L0L...
When i told , this game will be a **** game , then i was called a troll.
:geek:
Me troll ??!! Noh way.

In the current version the whole economy (and by extension I presume single player career) is online only.
They're just applying temporary bandaids in the recent patches cause they can't make the online work. And from the wording of the patch notes it's VERY clear, they are only temporary.

Still doesn't change the fact they've misled everyone by not making that clear before release and still now it says nothing about it either on the steam page or website.

Took a quick look... seems pretty good actually. TDU vibes which is not a bad thing. AC already "had" these different interior and exterior colors and other details but everything was preset in a way. CM showroom added the ability to create your own combination of these things as well as apply custom colors. CSP added the ability to change parts as models on the car. This kind of has it all, natively supported, which is great. UI is a bit unresponsive, but I am sure it's going to be improved at some point.

Of course, never said otherwise. My post wasn't meant to justify them. But to present the poor state of affairs in this regard.
And I'm really pissed at them cause of this. And cause of this they don't get to get my money. Even though I was really ready to throw them their way.

Mislead is probably not the right word. Internet connection is a minimal requirement. Still, they should have been transparent about it.

Every game sold on steam requires internet connection. This doesn't mean that you need the connection to actually play the game properly. This is a lie by omission. Which in other words is called "misleading".
I am not trying to defend them, don't get me wrong. We will see how will they communicate it and how the online system will change for 1.0. And what the online system will give us in exchange. Good thing the consumer is protected by Steam, if this is a deal breaker for them. For general circumstances though I don't think it's a critical thing for 99% of users and use-cases. And I wouldn't even note the unpreparedness of the servers at this stage as any indicator of what is to come. Still, I agree, they should have been open about this...

They need to put some effort into AI. It's currently a messy mess. I don't care much about customization at this stage of development.
It is, but it's also hilariously fun, just like the Gran Tuirismo 7 samba bus extreme tuning moon bounce. It would be great if as AI evolves, they would allow the version of the AI to be chosen.

If this is AI v0.1, great, but a few years from now I would really love to be able to play with it and have a great laugh after a few margaritas. As the AI evolves, it would be nice to be able to select the AI version, so we can keep relive them and compare very janky human memory with what it really does. I know there is a set of information that is in play here, but being able to go back and see what things were at points in time is very valuable and something going on lately is erasing. Patches-Scrolls forever!

Or maybe they gave some cars to work offline and added others to the career mode so they could test the online mode too. EA is more for the manufacturer and not for the players to have everything ready on release day 1.0

The more I read about ACE the more I get the impression that Kunos went into insane amounts of detail in some semi important areas and completely forgot to nail some of the basics. I mean, this whole upgrades and tuning ala rF1/rF2 is quite nice, but seeing that some very important aspects like AI and performance didn't get the same amount of attention for detail is a bit worrying. Nice for car culture guys but what's there for the racing enthusiasts?
