Update 1.56 of Gran Turismo 7 arrives on February 27th, and now we know the new cars and other additional features that will be included in the latest GT7 version.

Another month, another content update for Gran Turismo 7, and in time for the near three-year anniversary in early March. Whilst nothing major is getting added for the occasion, there is still a slew of new content and features that players have come to expect on the regular.

For one, there are three cars that we correctly predicted when attempting to decipher series producer Kazunori Yamauchi's signature silhouette image of the cars. Then, there are some new events, an additional Extra Menu and some additional circuits that the advanced Sophy AI can be raced on.

Gran Turismo 7 February Update: New Cars

Of the three cars getting added, the BMW Z4 3.0i will be the one with the best performance. This version of the car has the 3.0-litre Inline-6 which produces 228 horsepower, resulting in a 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 155mph. Whilst the statistics are not out of this world, it has a near perfect weight distribution so it handles like a dream.

Next up is the Peugeot 205 GTI, a hot hatch that spawned from the French manufacturer's entry into the Group B category of the World Rally Championship. This is the 1988 version of the car with a 1.9-litre Inline-4 that produced 128 horsepower, which could carry the GTI from 0-60mph in 8.2 seconds and all the way to 129mph.

The final car, though, may be the most absurd: the Mercedes-Benz Unimog Type 411 from 1962. This goliath is an all-purpose utility truck that because of its versatility over any sort of terrain, can be found being used in jungles, on mountains and in deserts as military vehicles, fire fighters, expedition campers and even in competitions like rally raids and the Dakar.

Despite all of that though, do not expect it to be quick as it only produces anywhere between 25 and 36 horsepower from its diesel-powered Inline-4. With the Weekly Challenge races always coercing the players into picking up typically unfavoured new content, consider it very likely that the Unimog will be required to complete those at some point.

The Z4 will be available to purchase from Brand Central, the 205 GTI from the Used Cars dealer and the Unimog from the Legends Cars dealer.

Additional Features

The 205 GTI will be required to complete a new Extra Menu that will be available in the Café, one centred around Peugeot cars along with the 205 Turbo 16 Group B rally car that it is based on and also the Le Mans winning 908 prototype racecar. So for those looking to complete these menus, check to see if any of those cars need to be acquired or if they have already been collected.

There are new events in the World Circuits selection, they are the Sunday Cup Classic at Red Bull Ring, European Sunday Cup 400 at Grand Valley and European FR Challenge 550 at Maggiore. But for those not keen on racing the typical Gran Turismo AI, both Monza and the Sardegna road track B circuits now have the option to race with the advanced Sophy AI.

The final new additions come in the form of a new panning option in the Scapes photo mode, and a brand new colour livery for the Mazda 3 Gr.4 model when purchasing it in Brand Central. The update will arrive at 06:00 UTC on February 27th.

The Unimog seems to have been added exclusively for good guy Jimmer to make a clown video.

Every Sim Racer is going to be loving getting to use the unimog and do things that others have only dreamed of being able to do.

Of course until the release notes arrive in a few hours, all the real fun details are still unknown.

Now if they would just add the ability to backup replays to USB. Having to buy a whole new PS5 just for Gran Turismo replay storage while they deny access to data seems, well, criminal.

The tire sidewall flex and deformation along with the rocks kicked up seem like a another little update and the unimog probably a great way to highlight it.
