The January 2025 update for Gran Turismo 7 is set to release next week, with the already-confirmed V12-powered 90's style F1 car as part of four cars that will be available.

Since around the time of December's Gran Turismo World Finals in Amsterdam, GT7 players have known the identity of two cars being added in this month's content update. The F3500-A open wheeler and also the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, the latter of which will be added to your garage for free if you tuned in to the Nations Cup broadcast briefly in-game.

Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi has posted his signature silhouette image featuring all of the upcoming cars, which means the update is only just around the corner. Typically, GT7 updates release on Thursdays so expect it to arrive on 30 January, the last Thursday of the month.

That leaves two of those shapes a mystery for the most part, so here are what are believed to be those two cars.

Old Hatchback & Compact Crossover

The Gran Turismo series sure do love their everyday road cars, and this update will do nothing to dispel such a stereotype. One may be a third generation Honda Civic that was in production from 1984 to 1987, the most powerful version being the CRX Si, which produced 160 horsepower. It may be a safe assumption to claim that this is the version we will be getting in GT7.

The other car appears closes to the Toyota C-HR, a mini SUV which in its fastest guise is powered by a 2.0-litre Inline-4, working in tandem with an electric motor to create a combined output of 220 horsepower. As a result, it can go from 0-60mph in 7.4 seconds. Of course, with multiple versions of both cars, it is possible that the versions that end up in GT7 when added in the update will be completely different.

Stay tuned for coverage of the GT7 January update when it is predicted to release on 30 January.

Another free update....
What a game and the way it encapsulates car manufacturers...

So all cars will still understeer and sound like vacuum cleaners? I have played GT since the first iteration and I love the idea of it but I got my first FFB wheel in 2010 and I think it was GT5 and quickly took my wheel and pedals over to the pc with RBR, GTR2, etc and tried GT7 with a newer wheel a year or so ago and was just as dissapointed. Sorry but I will stick with LMU, AC and AC Evo. Gran Turismo on a PS controller was awesome 20+ years ago. Modern FFB wheel base, awful!!

The thing is that the "sims" dont have nearly as many cars and for the amount of cars they (GT7) have i think the cars feel good enough to play with wheel and pedals. Just the other day i was trying it at my friends house on his Fanatec and i honestly enjoyed it. At my place i only have the PC sims we all know and love, but i took GT7 for what it is and i think they are doing a very good job at that. I would never even dream to compare GT7 with any of the sims you listed in terms of driving feel because thats just an unfair comparison. Look at just how little cars the sims you listed have compared to GT. They can't put the same effort into making every car feel as good as LMU does with their 12 or what cars. And then you also have to consider the hardware that is running Gran Turismo 7, it needs to be able to run on 2013 mobile CPU basically. There is just so much you can do physics wise there. I think as an overall package in terms of visuals, sound, physics and ffb GT7 is a very fine game.

Always better to judge something on what it is rather than what it isn't I reckon, completely agree with you

I want an amazing sim rig to enjoy both, to experience both.

Also ways to unofficially enjoy the game with PC wheelbases and pedals.

I can recognise, that each has certain pros or cons. Yet GT as a franchise is legendary in many regards. Its also a large part of peoples history or fondness in cars.

You also cannot get to experience VR on any PC, with so little effort or hassle and it work so well. Then add to that the number of and continual free cars and tracks .

It continues to give and give.

No I don't think it's a Civic, the bumper seems to be sticking out too much, I would have said it's an old Volvo of some sort, something like the 850?

Had a couple of months last year when I played a LOT, but for now I have lost interest due to the catch up races. If anything should change in the next GT, it should be that. Make it a challange type like in GT4, not the default... So yeah, not really looking forward to anything. Maybe the GT7 fever catches me one day again and I will try the new content then...
