Project Motor Racing launches this fall, but its system requirements for PC players are already available. Here's what you will need to run the sim.

Project Motor Racing will be available in fall of 2025, launching on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While the release is still quite some time away, the Steam page of the title is already available, and it tells players what they will need to run the sim.

Usually, Steam pages of upcoming titles also hint at a few features, such as VR compatibility - and while this will be on board eventually, it does not say anything about the feature yet.

PC, PlayStation & Xbox To Race Together

However, more interestingly, cross-platform multiplayer is listed - something that we could not get an answer out of Straight4 Studios and GIANTS Software about when we attended the Zürich preview event. Seeing how this will be a feature, it should be good news for console players in the sense that they will not have to wait longer for updates the PC crowd has gotten to enjoy for a while already.

This was the case in Assetto Corsa Competizione, for instance, where in some cases, PlayStation and Xbox-based sim racers had to wait for months until an update hit their platforms of choice after it had already been out for PC. If PMR wants to run cross-platform multiplayer, this means that each platform's version will have to be on the same level when it comes to version numbers.

With a physics engine that is supposedly highly detailed and capable (called Hadron) and being an all-new release in 2025, you would think that a NASA PC would be in order to run PMR smoothly - and there are some hardware hurdles to clear, particularly when it comes to the recommended specs and its 24 GB RAM, for instance. Check out the minimum and recommended specs below.

Interestingly, the specs listed on the Steam page are not accurate yet, with Straight4's Head of Licensing & Community Manager Tim Wheatley explaining that the correct specs will be added there soon.

Project Motor Racing Minimum System Specs (PC)

  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (6 cores or more)
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 580 (6 GB VRAM or more)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 125 GB available space

Project Motor Racing Recommended System Specs (PC)

  • OS: Windows 10 (x64)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 7 3800 (8 cores or more)
  • Memory: 24 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 2060 (6GB) or AMD equivalent
  • DirectX: Version 12

Ah, good shout - will update immediately, thank you! :)

I like the look of the content of this sim.I just hope the sim is customizable. So you can choose the cars, change driver names, liveries and change the aggression etc before the race. This was one of Project Cars major failings in single player game which just shortens the amount of time you play the sim.

After buying the Moza wheel to play on my Xbox Series X, I think choosing to play games like Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Forza 8, WRC, and F1 on console has been one of the most fun decisions. The great graphics and how easy it is to connect my Moza R5 to the console make me want to stick with Xbox for future purchases. I'm planning to buy this sim for Xbox… only time will tell if it's the right choice.

Oh nice , it will be crossplatform ! We will get the servers full from console kids "racers" . :D
A bigger pool of users also increases the chances of having a good quality league and/or better level on top splits. A coin always has two sides.

Looks to me more like a cube with more sides than a coin.
My biggest complaint against sims that want to embrace so broadly across acres of platform types (perhaps with set goal to reach the target group you mention) is that the core sim experience becomes the loosing part, with focus on the online part and "lives with" core sim flaws for sim racers with authentic rigs.
I have a hard time seeing to be proven wrong here.

It's not a matter of hardware limitation these days though. Too early to judge.

We're still being asked for a crazy PC configuration to play, but I'll be without it.:(
When you see that an F1 game runs super well and looks good enough with a GeForce GTX 1060 video card, you immediately understand that some developers and publishers work much better than others...

I was wanting to see what crazy idea was in place for MP this time... The last effort is still the most problematic in sim racing...

Kudos for getting this sentence correct though...

I will highly doubt it from this company... Still waiting for the last effort to be highly detailed in key areas...

Cross-platform with consoles !!!! excellent!!!! Ian Bell really knows what he's doing guys!!! get ready for the championship of project bumper cars.

:whistling: ;):roflmao:
