Project Motor Racing looks like it is going to continue its GTR2 throwback, according to the latest teaser by developer Straight4 Studios: The Mosler MT900 R is likely going to be part of the sim.
Early 2000s GT racing was a somewhat obscure affair sometimes. The Gillet Vertigo Streiff is a testament to that, and that car has been confirmed to be part of the car list in Project Motor Racing recently. Now, developer Straight4 Studios showed a new teaser for another set of wheels that seems tricky to nail down.
Our Editorial Team immediately channeled all their best race car Sherlock Holmes research proficiencies to try and find out what the image could show. Our first thought was the Maserati MC12 GT1 - but that did not match the vents shown in the image, and the state power figure of 430hp seemed a tad low for the rather glorious 6-liter V12 that powered the car to dominance in the FIA GT series.
It certainly isn't a Saleen S7R, either, especially since that car had already been confirmed in December. That left another mid-engined suspect, although it did not race in the GT1 or the N-GT class in the early 2000s - the Mosler MT900 R. Power figures seem to check out, and so does the design of the bodywork in the area that Straight4 showed.

That is not to say that the car was unreliable or unsuccessful in general, however. In fact, in the same year that one of the Moslers didn't even complete a lap at Spa, it took the British GT title in the GTO class, taking five victories in 16 races while recording 11 podium finishes.
It continued to score wins and decent results in national GT series, such as Spanish GT, in the following years. Despite being first raced in 2001, the Mosler MT900 R was still on track as late as 2013, even winning the Britcar GT season opener at Donington.

Mosler MT900 R: Successful In National Series
At the 2003 24 Hours of Spa, two MT900 Rs took to the grid in the G2 class for national GT cars. Rollcentre Racing fielded one car, the other was running in the colors of Perspective Racing. Neither of them would see the checkered flag, though, as the Rollcentre car had to retire with engine problems without completing a single lap in the race. While the Perspective entry managed to at least do 75 laps, its gearbox called it quits after that. That is not to say that the car was unreliable or unsuccessful in general, however.
