Are you planning to turn some laps this easter? May we suggest you turn your attention to RaceRoom, where the bundle of the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and the Green Hell, the Nordschleife, are free for you to play between April 17th and May 1st.

RaceRoom has had a reasonably good start to 2025 regarding new content; however, over the easter weekend and into May, one of the most popular circuits in sim racing is coming for free alongside a classic GT racer that has been the poster car for RaceRoom for a long time!

RaceRoom's version of the Nordschleife.

With this easter access special event, you will have access to both the German circuit and the Porsche across all modes, including the Time Trials and any online multiplayer racing. A single-player race or championship is also available with this combination.

"We will every now and then make paid content free for limited time while also working on leveling up our free content, this step will still take a while but we are negotiating license deals right now for content that we can offer then as free content" - Christian Baur, RaceRoom Director Strategy & Sales

With RaceRoom looking to expand its free-to-play content and offer some of its paid content for free every few weeks, it is clear that RaceRoom is pushing hard going into the Q2 of 2025.

Content like the supertouring pack was received very well and has a dedicated community behind it, so if the right content is made free every now and again, it could be the key to drawing fuller grids back to the sim.

Will you be trying this free combination over Easter break? Let us know in the comments below!

So for everyone stuck in traffic for hours towards the real Nordschleife on Car-Friday, just bring a laptop and some gear, have it ready in the car, and enjoy some virtual laps then? :D

So happy that these traffic jams are not part of simracing, I think last year I was stuck for 3 hours trying to leave the track

Completely lost interest in raceroom. Everytime I use it i come away dissatisfied thinking this is really poor compared to how it used to be. Unless it gets the major upgrades it needs then I doubt my interest will come back. Feels equivalent now to firing up race07.

To this day, they haven't done any real improvement on audio/sound quality. Cars terribly sounds like all the same.
I agree the sounds are awful. It was proved with the super tourers aswell that the sounds for the volvo were just sounds (and 3d model for that matter) from the same car in race07 which is simply lazy.

There is a huge amount of work to bring it on par with more up to date titles, and I don't know if they have the resources to do it tbh. Needs weather, day/night cycles/graphics update/cockpit updates ( they just use 6 generic ones as far as I know ). That's a ton of work even for a big team.

They've stated they don't have the money to do it personally think unless it gets some real backing then it will fade into the distance. KW can't be short of money makes me wonder why they bothered buying the studio and the rights to the game if they weren't going to put serious money into it.

I like RaceRoom, the way it drives and feel, but I just don't feel compelled to invest money on it, the "Iracing Style" content don't works for then, back in the day when you could buy packs on Steam I still buy some packs, because you get a cars and tracks, now if I want to buy just one super touring car is 40BRL a and with this same amount I can get a whole Endurance Pack Pt1 on Automobilista 2, the entire Super Touring Pack is 100BRL, AC Evo its just 130BRL (and it goes to 104BRL on sale), one year of Iracing on Steam is 60BRL on sale, the monetization system in RaceRoom is broken. I don't know how the pricing feels in other country's, or if this is the lack regional pricing here in Brasil, combine with the fact the majority of the player base is in EU, racing on EU times and the ping os at least 200ms, just dont make sense invest money, but if one they change it, I like the Sim.

An I'm not the an graphics guy, still racing GTR2, Race 07, rFcator (TCL and VLN 2005 mods), AMS 1, but the way RR looks with this dark green filter is ulgy, event when they tried vibrant color in the scenario they still feels darker, like Race 07 or a 360/PS3 game from the time.

/sarcasm on
Yea that's a weird observation, I would recommend swapping the keyboard for at least a controller and perhaps try to replace that monotone beep speaker on your pc with perhaps some dual channel earbuds.
/sarcasm off

I actually feel the difference on my ps5 controller when driving either 4WD or RWD, why's that you ask? Well since the fronts have less slip when accelerating on the RWD than on the 4WD, and why do I feel it? Since the game provides telemetry regarding the velocity of the wheels, with that I was able apply dynamic ffb to the ps5 adaptive triggers.

And no this is no joke, Race Element provides active triggers for RaceRoom as well as HUDs, completely free here on Race Department! https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/race-element.50578/

RRE has been milked on minimum effort for far too long. Most updates are; this wrong texture edited, this sound corrected, this track was wrong and edited, cockpit in car-x updated, slight modifications to brakes, susp, drivetrain, etc., etc. If there hadn't been so many things created badly, with fixes following long afterwards - there literally wouldn't have been any dev update news most of the time. The patch notes refer to what I mean for context.

I think KW Studios know if they don't sort DX12 (and all the other things we care about) it'll die forever. The gamepad setup is an over-complicated mess too. The model detail is functional though. Hopefully DX12 can increase the lighting/car color accuracy further. Many paint schemes look metallic and are on cars with standard gloss non-metallic finishes. Replays dated, performance is stellar. Hopefully the DX12 stuff is the first in a long line of overdue improvements to the sim. If so, interesting times ahead, if not = certain death.

No way I'll ever buy into a free-to-play sim again, that said, I have still been supporting RRE with DLC, despite me saying I won't bother until DX12 arrives. My words may seem harsh, but just like many of you - I'm a sim fan and it's the only form of software I ever buy.

I said that the Volvo S40 sounds were created using the recordings we made for Race07 back then, not that they're the same sounds we've been using in Race07 (like copying them in R3E if that's what you mean). We had the chance to make some great recordings of this car in 2008 in Gellerasen.
In case you don't know, this kind of opportunity is very rare or inexistant nowadays, so this is an excellent source if not the best one available.
Anyway, you can compare both sounds in Race07 and R3E and you will clearly hear the difference.

Since I started to work in SimBin in 2007, I always took my job very seriously, and I would never let this kind of copy/paste happen. Basically, I always use the opportunity to fully redo some sounds when I have a chance to improve them, and this is what happened in the S40 case ;)

I get what you're saying and my opinion isn't a personal attack. Why are these opportunities so rare now? In the UK we have series that is dedicated to super tourers and it regularly has nissans, hondas, vauxhalls, volvos everything. They are used quite often.

Like I said it's just my opinion on the game it doesn't mean its bad I just can't connect with it the way I used to.
