EA Sports WRC: OverTake Rally Club Goes On Safari

With the snow-laden banks of Sweden fading in the rearview mirror, the OverTake Rally Club is setting up for arguably one of the most challenging sets of stages available in EA Sports WRC, Rally1 cars at the Safari Rally in Kenya.

With an added forty kilometres of stages this year, compared to the previous running, it is even more challenging. The sun is relentless, and with little to no cover or shade, expect your car to take a beating. This event is being made even more difficult with the added twist of hardcore damage being turned on...

The roads of the Safari Rally's road really do live up to their name. A heavily modified Land Rover or rock crawler might be more suitable for certain sections. Littered with big rocks and ruts that can end your rally in an instant if your car gets wedged, the Safari Rally is an unforgiving beast that, if tamed, can be immensely entertaining.

Rally Safari Itinerary

Starting off the rally, a set of four short stages. Do not be fooled. These sprint stages are anything but fast, the twists and tight hairpins make these stages feel like they last a lifetime and are just as dangerous as the more open and fast stages.

Shakedown & 45 Min Service

SS1 & SS3: Kingono & Wileli - Clear - Dawn/Sunrise - 4.4km/4.9km:

Starting in the dark, Kingono stands in your way to begin the Safari Rally. Arguably the least complex duo of stages, Kingono and Wileli are filled with ninety-degree turns and straight roads. However, be aware of the big ruts to the side of the path.

Stages 1-4.jpg

SS2 & SS4: Marula & Moi North - Clear - Dawn/Sunrise - 5.5km:
The first of the really fast stages, Marula and Moi North, is a gruelling duo of majority-heavy gravel stages that will see you pulling the handbrake at multiple points to get around the tight sections. Do not lose concentration, and be sure to spot a braking point sooner rather than later at the end of the long straights.

Service - 45 Min

SS5: Malewa - Clear - Morning - 9.7km:

Starting off fast and ending with a tight and rock-filled nightmare of the final two sectors. Malewa is the first stage in which you could cause some serious damage to the car, even if you do not put a foot wrong!

Stages 5-8.jpg

SS6: Sugunoi - Clear - Morning - 9.7km:
Fast and dangerous, Sugunoi takes you up 1804m from the start line at a blistering speed. Expect to hit the limiter in top gear heading down that first long stretch.

Service - 45 Min

SS7 & SS8: Mbaruk/Soysamby - Clear - Afternoon - 20.2km:

One of the most challenging routes in the Safari Rally. The Mbaruk stage, partnered with its reverse variant, Soysamby, demands the most concentration and attention from the driver. Be aware of any damage your car has inevitably sustained, and do not overdrive it. There are forty kilometres to survive before you can cross the final finish line!
