MotoGP25 Looking To Accomplish What Monster Energy Supercross 25 Could Not

Motorbike fans, pay attention! The MotoGP series is back with a bang, and what looks to be a fantastic evolution on what has been a rather stale game series in the last few years.

Developed for the first time in Unreal Engine 5, MotoGP25 will feature all the official content of the 2025 season, including the return of the legendary Brno track in Czechia and the newest entry in the calendar, the Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary. The full Moto2 and Moto3 grids are also present and correct with the appropriate riders and bikes.

Publisher Milestone has been busy with titles on two wheels. Monster Energy Supercross 25 launched last week to poor reviews, but can MotoGP25 do any better and topple its two-wheeled competition?

New Gamemode, Race Off

New for MotoGP25 and the series in general is the inclusion of 'Race Off', a game mode in which players can race across three training disciplines. Available in both career and single-event modes, each bike class features unique physics and handling for riders to sharpen their skills:
  • Motard: A fast bike useful for mastering speed and handling.
  • Flat Track: An off-road motorcycle that challenges players to keep control even in low-grip conditions.
  • Minibike: A small but precise two-wheeler that requires high accuracy to be mastered.

Updated Physics

MotoGP25 will debut two types of riding physics: Arcade and Pro. Each preset will allow the player to adjust and adapt the controls and physics according to their preferences. The Arcade Experience is perfect for players who want to jump straight into the action without sacrificing too much authenticity. Simplified bike handling and a lack of setups and fine-tuning make this mode much more casual-friendly.

On the other hand, the Pro Experience promises to be the pinnacle of simulation in the world of bike racing. Players will be able to tweak numerous elements such as bike settings, tire management, riding aids, electronics, and fuel consumption. This is a more refined experience for players seeking more realistic gameplay.

A notable feature that has been overhauled for MotoGP25 is a refinement of the Bike Development System, which gives players more control over performance improvements in the career mode. Team communication will be fundamental as the player suggests changes to the in-game team engineers in dedicated debriefs and post-race meetings.

Alongside physics and riding updates, MotoGP25 introduces major audio upgrades. According to Milestone, custom sound design makes the bikes roar like they do in real life, making for the most immersive experience in the franchise to date if everything that has been promised is followed through.

MotoGP25 is due to launch on the 30th April, 2025, on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Not exactly sure what the title of this article is really about considering MotoGP games and Supercross games attract two very different types of bike fans. Its like comparing F1 25 and WRC.

It's less about the audience and more about creating a bike title that players will stick with and enjoy. Judging from the reception of MES25, it's not looking good so far.

I think MES25 is brilliant. I follow a few youtubers that play supercross games and theyve gone from this sucks on day one to realising its quite technical to play with having to use both sticks to move the bike. The steam reviews are rubbish in my opinion they let people review games with far too little playtime it should be at least 10 hours before you can leave a review not 2. No game gives you a good indication of how good or bad it is within 2 hours. Xbox reviews are even worse you only have to have 5 or 10 minutes playtime before you can leave a review.

I also find this whole obsession of everything needing to be a sim when it comes to milestone games quite strange. The people that put this down and say its unrealistic are the same ones that will go out and play mx vs atv legends and say its brilliant when in reality its even worse especially when you can do 1000m jumps 100 ft in the air off of a regular motocross jump :roflmao:

“Having to use both sticks to control the bike” so you mean every like motocross game since MX vs ATV reflex? The main issue is how sluggish and stiff everything looks and feels in MES25. There is a reason why a lot of people would rather play old games or more realistic sims (MX Bikes, MX sim etc)

You know exactly what i meant. I've not experienced it being slow and sluggish. I think it plays nicely, much nicer flow than mes6. You can get into a really good rhythm with it and have some good fun races. Sick of hearing about mxbikes people that play it are like those that think iracing is the best. They have to mention it everywhere they go to keep relevant.

Couldn't agree more. Steam is hurting the game devs by allowing people who haven't put in any effort to leave bad reviews.

can we have the TT isle of man licence to Milestone please ?

Ride 4 has a bunch of long tracks, like North West 200. But idk what they would do with just one giant track that's supposed to be a centerpiece event.

I'd rather they explore some less-known disciplines deeper. E.g. Supermoto would be more interesting if it had more than three tracks. Flat track would be cool with more than two laps per race (which it had in ‘Valentino Rossi’). Even better if it's Japanese flat track — fiddling with the suspension setup for the same two turns might finally help me understand what it does. Or they could do some crazy enduro stuff, less twitchy than motocross.

Another thing I have noticed is all the bikes look like they've got matte liveries. They definitely aren't running matte liveries in real life.

ME6 is not a good benchmark. And no I don’t know what you mean because like I said having to use two sticks does not make something in depth and detailed in handling. There is a reason a lot of the marketing for the game was pushed towards streamers who don’t usually play motocross games, because the ones that do have been pointing out how flawed it is.
And man if you think the game isn’t sluggish and stiff just go look at how bikes look in the air in real life. The animation and control of the bikes just isn’t fluid. It looks like everything is twice the weight of what it really is. Also you will note I never said MXbikes is the best or even good I just noted it as being a game in the “sim” genre of motocross but judging by your preconceived biases you dont care.

I didnt say 6 was a good benchmark the best games of any of the supercross games are 1-3, 4 was okay, 5 was where it started to feel odd BUT 25 is better than 5 and 6.
The lack of fluidity is probably down to them not using a seperate physics engine like they did with the first 3 games and now purely rely on UE to do everything.
You are partly right i dont care but not because i cant be bothered with others opinions but because i dont see how mxbikes can claim to be a sim, or the mx game thats in development for that matter when theyre purely designed to be played either with a keyboard or gamepad the way the bikes act seems believable in most bike games but then i have an interest in bikes and bike games but dont ride bikes in real life so thats probably why im not fussed. Plus milestones bike games have always been an easy way to just pick something up and have fun.

Why this off-road stuff? They should add other features:
1) Opportunity to watch races, in case of players retirement! This is related to - if player finishes, it should wait until AI riders finish, not to end race abruptly, showing standings! I managed to change all sessions to 5 mins length, otherwise if you stay in pitbox and accelerate time, MotoGP24 generates fake "generated" lap times.
2) Maybe add faces to Moto2, Moto3?
3) Something better than respawn, at least longer times for it.

I've never liked any Milestone game. Braking always seems underestimated and cornering is always beyond understeer.

Limiting that would not be a good choice. Playtime and playtime at the time of review are shown and if the user looking at reviews has a brain they can see the difference what is a review worth taking seriously. However there are technical messes released where a non-recommendation is evident even after 5 minutes and it's useful for early buyers.

Which has always amazed me, why the community has done nothing to change this.

1. Steam is not ratings.
2. Community has no rating protocol in place.
3. No official ratings group.

Steam is nothing but "wow" factor.
Take car shows at most this would be 10 points.

A site like that could also rate 3rd party verifying things like proof of origins.

Obviously the rating regime would be much different to car shows but you get the idea.
