The Simagic Alpha EVO Pro
The long-awaited Simagic EVO wheelbase product line is now available for pre-order! These new wheelbases are designed to be a step forward in evolution, hence the name, for Simagic in the ever-more-competitive market of Sim racing equipment.

With three competitive options in this new product line, the Alpha EVO line of wheelbases from Simagic is looking to upgrade its standing in the hierarchy of sim racers. These new wheelbases, the 9Nm Alpha EVO Sport, the 12Nm Alpha EVO, and the 18Nm Alpha EVO Pro, all have similar mechanical capabilities outside of the upgraded maximum torque figure. Will they hit the mark for sim racers upon release, April 28th?

The 'Open Ecosystem' promise

At this price point and level of technology, an ever-evolving ecosystem and compatibility with third-party applications are almost essential. Good news for Alpha EVO prospective buyers, these bases are designed to work even better with third-party wheel rims, pedals, and all other peripherals.

These bases are designed to last. With so many fantastic new wheels coming out from other manufacturers, it is clear that Simagic wants to embrace that instead of dialling it out of their customer base. History tells us that the Chinese company could be onto a winner with the Open Ecosystem.

Simagic's Alpha EVO Pro is currently being put through its paces by our very own Michel Wolk!

The mounting options for the trio of Alpha EVO bases are also third-party friendly. While Simagic does not currently offer a cockpit, it is good to see that these bases will not be limited to sim racers who can only mount in one specific way.

Buyers will have options for top mount, bottom mount, side mount, and even a desk clamp, opening up the potential buyer market enormously compared to bases from some competitors. However, whether you want an 18Nm wheel attached to your desk is up to your discretion!

I love my alpha mini and am sure these will be nice, but the overlap of 9, and 12nm seems like it would be off putting maybe on the mid tier. Especially when the og mini has 10nm. It's surely an evolution of design so maybe it's just cost effective to do it this way.

Very cool. But I can't see myself wanting to upgrade from my Alpha Mini for now other than the allure of 21 bit encoders.

Great they have used 21 bit controller, now if only they would give us the slew rate...
The lack of providing the specs is what made me choose the simucube instead of simagic.

It's like trying to sell a car and stating it can go 300 kph but not telling how long it takes to reach that speed.

Prices in Skippyland. Pretty reasonable.

But a lot of competition at these prices.

Alpha Evo or Aseteks Forte? Evo Pro or Simucube 2 Sport? I would prefer those. But you do get a good choice of reasonably priced steering wheels for Simagic. They have got a nice ecosystem.

And Moza is having a sale in EU now. R9 +Wheel 780, R12 +Wheel 940 or a R16 DD for 780, R21 for 990. With lots of reasonably priced wheels and accessories and even nicer ecosystem. But I have to admit I'd choose Simagic over R9 and R12 Moza DD's.

The older Alpha mini with 10 nm for 579 would still be the best budget deal for me. Saving 220 euro's.

Then nice thing is that in recent years there is plenty of choice in the mid level segment. With Simagic and Moza, Fanatec has got some serious competition these days.

I can't wait to see the comparison reviews of:
  • Moza R12 V2 (21 bit) vs. Simagic Alpha Evo (12nm, 21 bit)
  • Simagic Alpha vs. Simagic Alpha Evo (Pro)
Based on this I'll be making my decision on what I'll be upgrading my Moza R9 to.

I'm running a Simagic Alpha Mini now with a GT Neo wheel and it's and not only is it the best mid-range wheelbase it's also got incredible value. Very impressed with Simagic's designs and their design trajectory. If I'm coming from an Alpha Mini, is the EVO Sport 9nm going to be an adequate upgrade?
