The Former Corsair Rig Is Now The Fanatec Clubsport GT Cockpit

Initially revealed as Corsair's first sim racing rig, the ClubSport GT Cockpit is now officially part of Fanatec's hardware lineup - including several accessories.

2024 certainly was a wild year for Fanatec, as Endor AG, the company behind the the sim racing brand, was acquired by Corsair and is planned to be liquidated. While the ups and downs of one of sim racing's main stories in 2024 was still unfolding, PC hardware and peripheral giant Corsair revealed its first sim racing rig, subsequently showing it for the first hands-on experiences at gamescom 2024.

While the planned Q4 2024 launch mentioned in Cologne may not have quite worked, the rig is now available to order on the Fanatec website. After bearing the famous brand's name for the first time at SimRacing Expo in Dortmund in October, it is now officially called Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit.

In the US shop, the rig is already stated to be available for delivery in 4-7 days, while the European shop lists the availability date as January 21, 2025. The Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit costs €914.95 / $799.99 and is available both in black and white. While the rig comes with an integrated VESA single monitor mount, the GT Cockpit seat has to be ordered separately for €339.95 / $299.99 - or you can add your own, as Fanatec seat shares the standard 290mm bolt pattern.

Meanwhile, the cockpit does not share the common aluminium profile construction found on many other rigs, but it is still rather customizable. Certain accessories like the shifter mount rails come with a channel for slot nuts like the profiles do, so accessories do not necessarily have to be mounted to fixed points.

Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit Accessories

  • Seat: €339.99 / $299.99
  • Inverted Pedal Mount: €89.95 / $79.99
  • PC Tray: €114.95 / $99.99
  • Accessory Mount: €89.95 / $79.99
  • Shifter Mount - Left: €169.95 / $149.99
  • Shifter Mount - Right: €169.95 / $149.99
  • Keyboard Tray: €179.95 / $159.99

A triple screen stand was also shown at both gamescom and SimRacing Expo, but does not appear on the Fanatec website yet. However, the ClubSport GT Cockpit's width of 775mm (at 1675mm in length and 725mm in height) should allow for other free-standing triple monitor stands to be used with it quite easily as well.

It looks kind of cool, but I find tubular construction limited to customization. Is does look nice but it would not be an option for myself.

It seems to serve the basics and as I have no desires to become a professional sim racer it would likely be on the list of things to get, were I to find the room to put it.

Aside from the maybe over-engineered front end and yellow highlights it looks ok (although I'm not sure I'd want one in my home) but I'm definitely not sold on that price. Every part of it is unjustifiably expensive, presumably just because it has the Clubsport branding attached - but €170 for shifter mount and €180 for a keyboard tray - who in their right mind will buy this?

If anyone's after a decent tubular cockpit I'd normally recommend the GT Omega Titan (my cockpit) as it's great value (especially in comparison to this Fanatec one) but GT Omega are currently in my bad books as they recently sold me a mounting plate for the Titan and it arrived not as advertised on the website (missing drilled holes that's stopping me from installing it) and is also damaged, but they're refusing to help.

I'm getting the impression that the simracing cockpit industry is getting out of hand and touch with what people want / need and can afford.

Seriously Corsair, not even a $500 LED light and fan kit with broken software, to match?

Nonetheless it's 900+ bucks for a tubular rig that comes without a seat.. https://fanatec.com/eu-de/detail/index/sArticle/2170
And then if you go to a metal warehouse and you see the cost per kg of an iron tube of the same diameter you can't avoid to think how much of a cash grab this thing is. You can purchase a lot more tubes than you need an inverter to weld it, an angle grinder to cut and all the paint, build the frame with every feature you ever wanted and you are still many, many hundreds of bucks cheaper. They know that people don't have the place, the skill, the will, or can't be bothered to build it themselves, so they know that they can sell with very wide profit margins.

I understand the convenience of having a finished product, and that the company need to build it and cover a lot of costs, and then they have to have profits. But 900 bucks for a pile of fancy bended steel tubes that in raw form probably cost an order of magnitude less feels like a scam.

I only think the position for the computer is not ok.
There are many vibration going trough it.
From the steering wheel and pedal actions.
You might even want to add some proper bass shakers or brake paddle rumble.
That becomes really bad for all the connections inside the computer.
Especially with those heavy components we have inside nowadays.
A large CPU cooler hanging on the motherboard sideways and a heavy GPU hanging on a PCI slot and 2 screws.
Cable connections and your RAM also don't like to be shaken all the time.

It's a nice frame though to look at it.
My cat would love the spot where the computer should go.

Exactly what I thought when reading the article. Overly expensive for no justification.
Somebody is trying to take advantage, I hope it does not work for them.
People with hobbies are all a bit crazy (if you ask their partners). ;)
I think it's crazy people spend 10.000+ on a mountain bike.
Still there is a huge market in that price range, i found out.
So they are even more crazy than us. :D

It's just a slightly different TrakRacer TRX - absolutely fantastic amazing setup.

It still lacks considerably with shortcomings:
There is no helmet mount/stand option.
No rail is shown for having wheel rims ready for quick swap.
There is no surround sound speakers mount for rear and sides and dual subs ( in addition to bass shakers).
The rear shelf is too small. For PCs+PS5Pro+N UPSs+network switches+HDMI muxers + multiple stream decks, good space for "hardware+cables+power supplies" is necessary.
There are no casters for easy moving of unit from room to room.
These rigs are long overdue to offer electric seat adjustments, like cars from 60 years ago! and heated massaging, and ventilated seats ( lux german donor/used seats are great options ).
There is only a single top monitor shown and no listing for the triple + top stand.

This is not moving the ergonomics needle. It barely matches existing solutions. The price is extreme nickle and dimeing especially compared to market alternatives.

Easy 3D printing for 50mm tube mounts is trivial and ubiquitous and far proper elegant manual fixes, though should not be the only way available. Very disappointing lack of options.

Looking at the photo of that chair you are getting ready for AC Evo! ;)

Btw.. they do sit 10x more comfortable than a real racing seat, made to save weight and comfort was not requested as a important feature.
