It follows two previous Pro Challenges with unlockable Max Verstappen customisation options, both of which return for a limited period within EA SPORTS F1 23.

F1 World is somewhat of a mixed bag for the OverTake team, a menagerie of interesting ideas that aren’t quite coherent enough for our tastes – meanwhile, My Team seems to lack any major changes for the second title in a row.

No matter, the Birmingham-based purveyors of licenced Formula 1 action are pressing on with the new, mobile game-aping, mode. There’s set to be a brand new Pro Challenge, seeing you try to beat the current world champion’s 1:22.652 lap time around the Lusail International Circuit.

It will be live in-game between 12th-26th December 2023. Beating the target will unlock Max Verstappen’s special ‘world champion’ crash helmet design, used in the real-world during the title-clinching Qatar Grand Prix.

Two prior Verstappen-themed challenges will also return, despite their initial cessation. These will see you trying to unlock further helmet designs at the Dutch Grand Prix (Circuit Zandvoort) and Japanese Grand Prix (Suzuka Circuit).

Should you take part and beat the targets, the design can be used for your customised F1 World character.

This follows a small v1.18 update for F1 23 released earlier today, 11th December, across all platforms. “This update supports the addition of content for use in F1 World Events,” stated the title’s social media accounts.

EA and Codemasters have also revealed that Verstappen has been the most-played driver in the game since launch.
