After an undoubtedly less-than-exciting third round at Suzuka, the Formula One circus moves to the second weekend of its first triple header at Bahrain for round four!

The Bahrain International Circuit is located just outside the growing metropolis of Sakir. The Grand Prix layout, identical to that used in pre-season testing at the start of the season, is a 5.4-kilometre track comprised of 15 corners. Due to the immense heat, the circuit is considered to be one of the more challenging venues for both cars and drivers, hence why the race is held at night under floodlights.

Looking back at what some would consider the best race at the Bahrain International Circuit, the 2014 running, could we see the Mercedes at the front of the grid with both drivers in form? Or are we in for another blockbuster showing of Max Verstappen vs. McLaren fighting at the sharp end of the grid?

The races are coming thick and fast at the start of the 2025 season. As the Formula One setup reaches the dunes of Sakir, the second round of the first triple header looms on the not-too-distant horizon. Bahrain is a familiar venue for this year's group of teams and drivers, with the circuit hosting pre-season testing.

Verstappen vs McLaren... Let them cook

Last weekend, we saw a less-than-thrilling race at what is supposed to be one of the world's most exciting race circuits, Suzuka. The Japanese Grand Prix was not a classic, but it only added to the drama of the points tallies. Plenty of consistent driving and some good battles, although few and far between, showed how much each front-runner wants this title ripped out of Verstappen's grasp.

Japan saw Verstappen take his first win of the season, moving him to within just a single point of championship leader and papaya price Lando Norris after three rounds. The McLaren does look to be the quickest car on the grid when you take away driver errors and strategy mistakes, but those factors play a huge part and have allowed the Red Bull driver to close in and split the McLarens.

Oscar Piastri's other McLaren sits behind the defending World champion, just 13 points off the championship lead. The mistake at his home race in Melbourne has separated him from the top two.

Including Lewis Hamilton's dominant sprint race victory from pole in China, Formula One has had four different winners from four different race events, and all four of them started on pole. More now than ever, the drivers need to perform on the Saturday in Qualifying as it is in the race on Sunday!

Podium Prediction Game

If you haven't seen it over the last few weeks, the 'Guess The Podium' game is here to stay for 2025! But this time, with a few minor changes. This year, we will split the game in half at the annual summer break, meaning there will be two sets of prizes up for grabs, with two separate prizes.

The first half of the season will be to win a year's worth of Premium membership here on OverTake.gg, and the second half of the season will award you something extra special!

Guess The Podium Rules.png

If you are not aware of how the Guess The Podium game works here on OverTake, do not fear! Our fantastic community manager, @Christopher E, has created an easy-to-read graphic with a short explanation that you can find above.

Ten points will be awarded for guessing the correct position and the correct name, and five points will be awarded for guessing the correct name but the wrong position. As mentioned before, at the halfway point of the season, we will award the overall winner one year of Premium membership here on OverTake!

Ayumu Iwasa to take the wheel of Verstappen's RB21 for FP1

Before the dust had settled in Japan, Red Bull have confirmed that Ayumu Iwasa will get behind the wheel of Max Verstappen's RB21 during Free Practice 1 this weekend, meaning that for the first time since 2007 there will be a double lienup of Japanese drivers in an offical Formula One session with Ayumu partnering Yuki Tsunoda.

The 23-year-old ex-Racing Bulls test and reserve driver Iwasa has already completed two practice sessions in Japan and Abu Dhabi in 2024. This will likely not be the last time we see the young driver, who is desperate to land a full-time role on the grid in the future.

A notable feature in the poll above is that you can't change your choice once you've hit the do it button, I for instance forgot to pick Oscar Piastri, and I cannot add him to my choice, I guess it's so there's no swings and rounaabouts.
But it doesn't matter as I'll likely not be watching live as it's the Goodwood Members Meeting this weekend, and that holds far more interest for me

And the fact that it all adds up to more than 100% as well

Well I guess doohan is racing this weekend, if not, thought we might have heard something by now.
He shouldn't have been racing in Suzuka that's for sure the footage of him needing aid to get out of the car at the end of the race is proof enough to show that had he had another crash or fire he would not have been able to get himself out the car.

Yeah, their percentages aren't 'dynamic' as such, it's 'X'% of the people that voted chose that driver.
: So Verstappen had 15 votes from the 35 voters that their 42.9%
This has been bought up by others before... me included, but it is what it is I guess.

" What are you most looking forward to in the world of Formula One ": the return to tracks that are close to the actual fanbase, preferably with a lot of history.
Most of them would have boring races nowadays.
Not enough space to overtake, too many corners shorty behind each other.
Only one fast line possible.
Pit boxes need to be really large and the paddock needs to host a few different classes in a F1 weekend.
Many of those track don't have accommodations anymore to host F1.

McLaren is aiming to regain the lead after Verstappen's victory in Japan. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have shown strong results in previous races, and their fight against Red Bull promises to be tight. Mercedes and Ferrari also intend to intervene in the fight for the podium: George Russell is showing stable form, and Lewis Hamilton is returning to the track, where he won five times, now with Ferrari. The 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix promises to be an exciting stage with intriguing storylines and intense wrestling on the track. With a minimal gap in the championship and the teams striving for dominance, fans can expect an exciting sight at the Sakhir circuit.

Watching the free practice. For F3 and F2.
Bizarre, totally nobody on the grandstands.
While other places sell out totally on Friday already.
Looks like Monday's practice session next to the track.

Some locations might not have the big number of fans to attend, and then again, many may be dealing with massive frenetic business catastrophes cuz "political" realities.

But the rookies practice was quite the mix. Max's car getting rookie seat time was cool to see.

Piastri is currently demonstrating that he's quite a bit of a monster behind the wheel. As much as I support Norris, I think McLaren might have to start considering switching driver priorities.

I think they need to go with no number one until one of the two gets some separation from the other.

They both seem to be at the same level right now.

That's why I said start considering. Obviously they're not going to do anything now, as the bigger picture will come as next few races unfold.

But as you say you could barely fit a sheet of paper between the two of them in terms of performance at the moment.

Wow, nice one oscar, but wonderful job for russell, antonelli and gasly too, they deserve a mention. I expected an easy 1-2 for mclaren but lando fuc***g it up again mmmmh..
