One of the most action-packed and controversial Formula One seasons of the twenty-first century, the 2008 season saw Lewis Hamilton take the first of his seven World Championships on the final corner in Brazil in the infamous 'Is That Glock?' moment. The complete car and driver list has been brought to Assetto Corsa as 2024 comes to a close.

After fourteen years, MAK-Corp's 2008 Formula One season has finally seen the light of day, but not how it was originally planned. Initially created and destined for rFactor 2, this complete Formula One grid has found its way to Assetto Corsa under the control of mod creator Cimmerian_Iter.

With full permission and assets, Cimmerian_Iter has finalised and filled in all of the gaps in the grid and produced one of the highest quality full grids of Formula One cars available for free within Assetto Corsa. From the Super Aguri Team right up to the McLaren and Ferrari outfits, each team has a fantastic amount of detail. Along with the standard liveries, there are also unique one-offs from the likes of Red Bull and Super Aguri.

As well as liveries, all of the cars have multiple variations, with fins and front wings evolving throughout the season. For cars such as the BMW Sauber, there are four different variations of the car available to drive. With a mod this thorough, you would hope that the driving experience matches it. Well, you are in luck.

The 2008 driving experience

With the cars having realistic performance characteristics, each team's car will handle differently and require some driving style adjustments; the McLaren, for example, has much more oversteer in its base setup than the slower and more understeer-infected Super Aguri.

The force feedback is sharp and accurate when compared to paid alternatives of similar-era Formula One cars; the most impressive feature is just how good the soundtrack is. With the volume cranked up, the HUD turned off, and the open track in front of you, it truly is a fantastic driving experience.

Mod Features

  • Complete Grid: Every car and driver that competed in the 2008 Formula One season.

  • Realistic physics: All cars have different physics to replicate the 2008 season, the cars are challenging but fun to drive with realistic lap times.

  • Different tyre choicesYou can select soft, hard, inters, wets and even the green fuji tyres or the end of season slick tyres. The choice is yours.

  • Liveries: If you like the Redbull wings for life skin, then youa re in luck. It an be found in the livery selection. Do you love the glossy dark red of the F2008? It's in there as well. do you remember that Super Aguri had a white livery for the Spanish Grand Prix? Well, that is included as well.

  • Different Aerokits: Sharkfins, Mclaren's butterfly nose wing, the Honda and McLaren side wings and the BMW Canadian spec car, you can enjoy all the different aero looks for each of the cars throughout the 2008 season by selecting the one you want in the livery menu.

  • Realistic sound engines: The sound was a huge part of the mod and appropriate care has been taken to ensure that the auditive experience is the best possible to enjoy that iconic V8 scream.
  • Different helmets: Replicating the real life counterpart, each driver has a helmet that reflects real life.

  • Dynamic Display: The steering wheel displays now show useful information like the delta gap, brake bias, pit animation, and more. You will need the program, Rare, for this to work.

Silverstone final chicane incident

As mentioned in the comments of the mod, there are people having issues with the car's performance that can be fixed by simply changing some basic settings within Assetto Corsa. Make sure to turn traction control and stability control OFF in the game's settings. These 2008 cars had neither of these assists and, therefore, confuse and slow the car down exponentially.

To improve upon in the future, there are some textures that have not transferred particularly well. The carbon fibre texture is the main culprit, but in the grand scheme of things, it is not a deal breaker, and the creator has acknowledged there are aspects of the mod that will be charged and updated as we hit 2025.

To install the mod, as mentioned by the creator, do not just drag and drop it into your game; make sure to manually extract the .7zip to your 'assettocorsa' folder. This can be found wherever your game is installed. If you decide to install normally through Assetto Corsa, then expect your tyre textures to be completely broken.

There are plenty of tutorials on how to manually install mods to Assetto Corsa online, so do not let this extra step keep you away from these cars! CSP also needs to be installed and up to date for these cars to work properly, but once you have these settings dialled in and set, then you are good to go!

Overall, this mod pack has an excellent spread of detailed, well-equipped and accurate car models that allow players to transport themselves back to 2008 and relive one of the final years of the V8 in Formula One within Assetto Corsa. With varying car performance and multiple track liveries from this era also available here on OverTake.gg, there are plenty of reasons to try out an entire season with these brilliant pieces of Formula One history.

What do you think about this full-season mod pack for Assetto Corsa? Do you remember watching the 2008 season live? Let us know in the comments down below!

I am very thankful for this(!) and it is awesome and all - but I find the cars very hard (giggity) to handle. In your 2007 they're not. My humble "request" therefore would be if there can pls be a easier handable version of it as well. But not demanding anything and as so often just saying. Thank you.
I will next update include as an option the previous 2008 physics so you can chose

Not wasted at all.. if you want it in rF2, learn how to mod and do it yourself HAHAHA. AC all the way over rf2, ams1 and especially ams2. looks, sounds and most importantly drives fantastic... and the mod is FREE, so stop complaining. over at gtplanet, you can find more free F1 seasons by this modder that are not on overtake.gg
How about acting your own age?.... if your age is even accurate here, which i am starting to doubt.

Thank you @Cimmerian_Iter for this amazing mod, a real work of art. With all the apps at our disposal in AC, it makes this game an amazing experience and at the same time a little bit more demanding on the user and modder. A small price to pay to have access to such greatness.
In the early days of 2025, AC appears stronger than ever, offering a wealth of driving experience for all us Motorsport nuts.

Tu es sur l'article concernant le mod, pour le télécharger tu dois aller sur la page du mod en question

Et tu dois parler anglais sur overtake

I installed the mod and loved the additions, but for some reason, the car doesn't go over 120 KM/h even with automatic gears. Also, the car's dashboard isn't working. Does anyone know what it could be?

Dashboard will be fixed in a next update. I forgot to include a font fil. 36_big

As for speed, do not use automatic gears and traction control

Tks man, you always do a great job.

As for the speed, i am also facing this issues on the 2010 and 2012 mods, is it necessary to desativate the automatic gears? because i play on the controler, so for me is very casual

yeah you need to disable automatic shifting, I don't like the way automatic shifting works in assetto but anyway next update you will have another physics (by Ponz) which is simpler and should fit controller better (you can use automatic shifting)

Thanks a lot man, I love your job, it is increlible.

This feature will be added in 2010 and 2012 as well?

thanks for answer as well

Looking at like the wrong suspension geometry, maybe the physics data is the source of a rubbish patreoner THE RACE PROJECT's hilarious CTDP 2006 conversion, as those 35° kingpin on rear sus of some cars are exactly the same as on the 2006 mod:rolleyes:
So considering the data mistakes, this mod, even after 15 years, is not worth the wait

What angle should it be?

I would really appreciate that before talking without knowledge you would make 1 a constructive comments, 2 actually do your research. You haven't done anything related to modding, you just did some skin files, and you are telling ME, someone who have been here in Assetto Corsa for like 4 years, is taking the source of physics from THERACEPROJECT who has only been here for like a year and doesn't produce his own physics. If I had to chose a source to copy physics from, it certainly wouldn't be from his 2006 mod.

Second, I'm not even sure you even drove the car, else you wouldn't make this comment. And if you had any knowledge about physics, you would have seen that the suspension geometry comes from kunos physics, not someone else. If you compare the suspension geometry side by side. It was adapted to fit 2008 cars.

Calling it "data mistake" and "stolen from THERACEPROJECT" really shows how little you know about physics to make accusation like that

If the suspension geometry doesn't match 1:1 the 3D geometry it's normal, not even RSS makes it match 1:1 and you would see an offset angle that makes it higher than the 3D model suspension

So no, if anything maybe theraceproject patreon modder copied the suspension geometry from me, as my mod (2023) is older than his 2006 remake. Which doesn't matter in any case as the geometry comes from Kunos. And if the angle doesn't match the 3D model suspension geometry it's normal, not even kunos match its 3D geometry. Doesn't mean that the driving in game is wrong.

lol, is it possible they are all using my version of physics? I collab with both Cimmerian and Theraceproject, and btw it is based on kunos suspension geometry.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yeah so in the end, physics developed for my 2008 season mod got based on by theraceproject with your authorization. But wang who knows jack sh*t about physics or who did what decided that theraceproject was the source of the geometry. When it's just a slightly modified kunos geometry.

Pointless argument and I don't understand why people have so much time on their hand to make up false accusation on a free mod.

The most hilarious thing here are the tyre textures you shared, plus you got asked what' angle should they be and you can't even respond. As I always think if the mayority of people haves fun with the game while there is a 1% complaining on this platform for impossible and absurd things thinking AC was released recently... then is the right path.

Suspension geometry is probably the only thing you can get right-ish on an F1 car, if you photomatch it. Everything else is either too stiff to work in the vanilla engine, or unknown what kind of input it'd need.
