The next update for the early access of Assetto Corsa EVO is arriving in a few short days, with new cars confirmed including a racing car, a lightweight sports car and a classic and retro car from the same brand.

After we got an update from Kunos regarding the revising of the plan for the AC EVO release, we now have an idea of what content is definitely on its way to the sim in the future. Now we know when the next stage of that plan is releasing, with the next content update arriving on May 7th at 14:00 UTC.

Kunos revealed in a tweet that four new cars are getting added to the sim, and they are the Maserati MC20 GT2, Lotus Exige V6, Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA and the Alfa Romeo 75 Turbo Evoluzione.

That was not all, though: On the official Discord server, the studio announced an additional three cars and two tracks: The Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6, Mazda MX-5 (NA) and Honda NSX-R are also part of the update, whilst the tracks are the previously confirmed Circuit of the Americas and along with that, Donington Park.

Additionally, Kunos will be adding the open mode and career mode they spoke about in their most recent keynote. They also mention that "Step 2" for both VR and triple screen support will be added in, along with new special events, replay tools and gallery and a custom race weekend modifier in single player.

Some interesting cars, and one of the track i use the most, donington.
Of course, i will give it a try.

Then i will go back to other "projects" ongoing with other simulations.

Let's see if they can make good on performance improvement while also unlocking more fidelity from the engine. Evo isn't that sharp in clarity & details into the distance on a track like Fuji where the backdrop is unmissable. The saturation also is too warm.

Other Qs: How much has the AI improved? Are they on a good path there at least?

Good mix of cars. The NSX-R had my childhood heart racing as a fan of Japan, and Honda. I'm hoping EVO can capture its charms.

Was hoping for the F2004, and may be MP4/20 as we go along?
Agreed on the sharpness and general fidelity, here's to hoping they can really develop the VR end of the experience as they build towards a 1.0.

The lighting has some very real potential though. Already, the ambient and artificial (headlights, lamps, etc) lighting is more convincing than anything I've encountered in sim racing. There's a very natural look to it, especially getting into dusk where headlights meet the faint environmental lighting, then the track lighting kicks on.

I'm optimistic long-term. I have no expectation that we'll see a true 1.0 worthy release inside of 12 months, though I would love to be proven wrong.

Open mode? Does this mean...
It means more or less the ‘offline’ mode, so without career/licenses/special events, but just pick a car and track combo and race. It’s not the open world around the Nordschleife… that will come later.

Hopefully they get the physics & ffb / performace issues and A.I sorted as it`s more important at this early stage, but would love Sepang or Brno, or the missing tracks from GT World Challenge America .

Open mode: now the simracers that can't even pass the easiest driving test can drive all cars!! Have fun people!
Wait until you find out that you could do exactly that in AC1....

Honestly, it really annoys me how hard people are going in on Kunos. It's literally at 0.1 release alpha, people are expecting flawless performance and a well optimised, fully featured game, criticising 0.2 before they've even tried it.

Just tell everyone you* don't like early access, park it in the corner of your sim library and forget about it until it gits gud because clearly what you were actually after was the full release version of the game and you're several years too early.

*this is aimed at everyone complaining about ACE's stability etc now, not really aimed at Rusty.

VR "Step 2" ?? Seriously? 🤣
IF VR DOESN'T WORK FLAWLESSLY, STOP EVEN BOTHER RELEASING IT, and waising out time!
I got a feeling this is goona be another major disappointment!
I really have enough of these few% finisned games, which unfortunatelly became a standard now days!
You do understand what an alpha is right?
The amount of over reaction on this thread is kind of pathetic. I'm not even a Kunos fan but lets give them a chance and see what is even in the release notes before everyone throws their toys out of the pram.

Nice, will give it a try.

But it seems like a joke to me that graphics, at least at the moment, seem to be behind ACC or AC1 (not to speak from modded AC1)...

Looks like a good update. Going to try it again. Its going to be nice to see how it play out when we eventully have the open world as well. Ac evo is game i have most excitement for specially when its all set in 1.0.

The fact that kunos has brought back Stefano and is going to open the game too the modding community says to me they know they are in a pickle . Just get Aris back and be done with it too. Get all the gt3 licenses and hire RSS to convert all their top notch mods as official content and totally utilise the cream of the modding community to save this train wreck.

What was all that talk about the mod tools getting released with the next update ?! They didn’t even talk about it .. ughhh. :/

As with ACC, there were hiccups, as with any early release. I am very optimistic with ACE. I am looking forward to the new content.

I agree, the current graphics of ACE are softer and less impressive then the modded AC1. I hope they hired the guy who created all the new rendering improvements used in the latest AC mods.
