Assetto Corsa EVO: Info On Next Release Soon, More Frequent Updates To Follow

Things have gotten quiet around Assetto Corsa EVO since its most recent update. The next one is supposedly packing quite a punch, and it might open the floodgates again, according to Kunos Simulazoni.

When Assetto Corsa EVO became available in Early Access on January 16, it was one of the most anticipated launches in recent sim racing history. Since then, developer Kunos Simulazioni deployed multiple smaller patches, as well as its first content drop as part of update 0.1.6 on February 19. Since then, there has not been much, if anything, regarding the progress of the sim.

The biggest news concerned not the sim itself, but rather Kunos' personnel when it emerged on March 7 that co-founder Stefano Casillo rejoined the studio full-time as Chief Technology Officer. Previuosly, he had been away from the company since 2020, focusing on his own hydrofoil sailing simulator project.

Interestingly, it was Casillo who now gave a small update regarding AC EVO's progress on Kunos' Discord server. "Sorry the update is taking so long. We are doing a LOT of changes in response to the feedback you have been offering since EA launch", Casillo wrote. "But the new release is looking really packed with changes, improvements, optimization and content. Just a little bit of patience..."

Official Communications Expected Next Week

Casillo continued with stating that Kunos will have "an official communication coming next week (hopefully)." Once the next version of AC EVO is live, Casillo hopes that further upcoming updates will be rolled out more frequently, as he stated in another message: "Once this update is out we'll hopefully be able to release stuff more often."

As per the roadmap released alongside the first Early Access version of Assetto Corsa EVO, the sim is due to have five new cars, the Circuit of the Americas, Custom Race Weekend mode, new special events, as well as replay tools and a gallery added. Additionally, VR and triple screen support will see the second step of their implementation.

With the concerns players have been raising since AC EVO's launch, it is reasonable ot assume that performance optimization is high on Kunos' list. VR enthusiasts will look forward to the next step of its support, as it currently is in a promising, but ultimately not very performant place, as our own @Christopher E also found during his in-depth test.

What are you hoping for in the next Assetto Corsa EVO update? Let us know in the comments below and join the discussion in our AC EVO forum!

I forgot about this. Actually I lost interest really. Don't know where it was to live I the sim space. Especially with the open road world driving they mentioned. I love AC so I watch this with interest but I don't know

Are you guys individually obnoxious or is it a concerted effort ? :) the comments in here lately are pathetic to say the least .... a more polished version of a game with 10 years development on top of it took one full year to start being decent ... yet , a new thing with a new engine from scratch tanked in 2 months :) ... i really want to revisit this thread in 10 months but .... nah it'll be forgotten together with the comments :)

The only reason I don't use AC Evo it's because I felt the FFB was way to subtle/soft compared to AC highly detailed feedback. Hopefully, that improves.

Lol nobody is talking bad. Most people have just lost interest. What exactly are you responding to with this comment?

I have a feeling early access isn't intended for the race department crowd. Seems like most don't understand what they signed up for. I typically don't mess with early access because I don't want to beta test with my time, so complaining when you do is 100% on the user
You see, pullmehome, we have names and words for everything. What you describe, is beta testing (or alpha) and you don't pay for that.
Early access, when you think about it, is a game that you pay for and is very close to being released. And you decide to get it ahead of the rest of the community with an understanding that it might have some small issues or missing some content. This does not describe what ACevo is at the moment.
So no, it's not on the user. It is on Kunos.
A lot of users went for it because Kunos had a lot of street credit. And now it has less. I think it is very simple to understand why a lot of people are frustrated and want to communicate their feeling.

I feel almost guilty for telling peeps, that Kunos always makes a performant game engine above all else! Most of the year I used a gaming laptop, the performance is utter shite. I love watching replays of laps, and that isn't enjoyable with the framerates "at present".

Yet this is EA, so we all need to have realistic expectations. I'm hoping for a menu button that says "disable all shitty post-processing effects that tank performance". Interesting times ahead! At least things can't get any worse!!

I don't get it either. I can't imagine being so riddled with ADD or autism to come on here and comment about how you forgot about an early access in 2 months and then think that would be cool to a group of peers. Like bragging about it. The mindset of today is filled with the over sensualized carnival barking of "if I put this down, that somehow makes me better". People, they're telling you that the third month update news is coming. Is that really hard to understand? You can insert the first_time?.gif right here.

Jan 20th was also the day that UK Paper "The Mirror" gave away thousands of free annual passes for National Trust sites. Perhaps many early adopters of ACC have merely been enjoying the British Countryside. We love free stuff.
I'd love to believe your theory but...collusion doesn't equate to confliction. Or something.

I’d rather have latest gt3 cars added to ACC. Must make business since to have 2-3 people making cars and selling them for £10.

I agree that it should be made clear prior to purchase that...
A: the game will require internet connection for it's entire and forseeable future.
B: the game will require internet connection throughout it's Early Access period.

The graph shopwing player numbers means nothing to me as there all sorts of reasons to not play a game, and it's generally understood that there will be a peak interest for most eagerly awaited games.

ACE is not dead, tanked, whatever, but this kind of early access experience is not what I expected. Coupled with the whole online, bad performance, bad AI, I have no reason to really play it at this point. They need to step up their game. Most of the good will from most Kunos fans is probably depleted, from my side certainly, time to perform.

What is an uk? Is that a grrr but with more of a ewww? or just not quite a full yuk? maybe a little hurl? Is this something related to a bother for Ireland?

I'm certain based on the steam comments, the always online is absolutely unacceptable, mediocre physics that likely you can't even set the temps and variations around the track, let alone barometric pressures, and humidity, throw in garbage AI, abysmal performance, so so many bugs, a glitchy UI that makes you feel like you're drunk in the really really bad kind of way, and well evo is far far far from something decent.

Maybe a big giant redesign and prioritization of decent rules and enforcement of any motorsport infractions, penalties, and end user game setup for leagues, and it might survive.

The reviews on steam are quite negative with clear explanations of the poo, or positive with nonsense delusional fanboi fawning, or worse recommended with 6 mins of play time and then refunded. Like how much manipulation is happening? The actions are far more telling than the propaganda.

For some folk, the sky is always falling.
We have no less than five great titles we could run, while waiting for ACE to mature.
It is afterall....early release.
That is the exact approach I have taken to this title.
I purchased it because I know (with no degree of uncertainty) it will be a good title once complete.
It was also done to support a developer that has been fair in pricing sim titles.
Occasionally, I will load it to see what, if any has changed.
I have seen a massive uptick to the smoothness...gone are the 'jumpy' images when looking at even the rearview mirrors.
The updates are subtle...but there.

This is a true reflection of how good this game really is! The only man who was capable of creating game at Kunos has always been Stefano. I really hope he can fix this half product (crap) which came out a couple of months ago, but will be more like a mission impossible. Hard to fix when the foundations of the game are corrupted. But lets hope I'm wrong!
