Automobilista 2 is about to let sim racers fly: Developer Reiza Studios has teased Stadium Super Trucks to be coming to the sim soon.

A fan favorite of the first release in the series is coming back: Stadium Super Trucks are on their way to Automobilista 2. These trucks are made for short-track racing, usually on street circuits known for more docile forms of racing, but incorporating ramps for huge jumps.

Created by former IndyCar and NASCAR pilot Robbie Gordon, Stadium Super Trucks have often been part of IndyCar weekends after their 2013 debut season. However, the amount of races on the series' schedule has decreased dramatically in recent years, with the 2024 season only consisting of two rounds in total, one at Long Beach, the other at Adelaide. Thus far, only Long Beach appears on the 2025 schedule from April 11 to 13.

However, after Reiza's latest teaser, sim racers can at least get their fix in AMS2. 'Soon' can mean a lot of things, but Reiza's Lead Developer Renato Simioni mentioned new content to be added "pretty much every month" when talking to OverTake in late January, so the Trucks could indeed be just around the corner.

It will be interesting to see what other content they might come with. Could Racin' USA Pt. 4 finally be about to launch? Recently, community members had spotted hints about NASCAR-style stock cars and additional ovals to be on their way to AMS2 as well - with Stadium Super Trucks being a US series at its core, it could be a good fit.

On the other hand, their spirit would also be in line with an Adrenaline Pack Pt. 2 - part one included rallycross and Formula Dirt content, so it is likely that the Stadium Super Trucks could be the follow-up to that pack.

Where are the new tracks? Release more tracks that will be suitable for Formula 1, LMP, GT3 and many other classes of cars. They produce specific cars that only fit specific tracks, these tracks are not suitable for all other classes of machines in the game. Bravo! As always nothing is finished. When AI improvements that they promised? When will all mistakes in the game be corrected? No one will even buy it. Why would you buy it? To drive around a couple of laps and never ride these super trucks again? You can get old while the developers do something good with this game. They decide to add only the most unpopular content to the game. Another unpopular class of cars to which will be 3 track. To release all this junk the developer will spend a lot of time. Have they seen that even in the iRacing this class of machines nobody plays?
People like you need to find leagues where people are having actual fun with stuff that is not just GT3, LMDh, or Spa. Thankfully i am in plenty of those that will love this addition to the car and track roster.

And is that a bad thing ? Sim racing is so serious and people constantly so extremely competitive, it is nice to have a car class where you can just let loose and enjoy the ride.

I never said it was a bad thing ;) Just they are good for fun rather than competitive racing 😇

OH NO, another scope creep :( Reiza already can't assure quality of existing content. There's always something broken/bugged after every update.
But in this huge variety of content and different combinations - this project is basically unmaintainable.
I wish they dropped all stupid stuff like trucks, rallycross and those stadium trucks and focused on delivering more consistent quality for base contetnt.

Base content like what? IMSA? Stockcar? Indycar?
I am super happy with Reiza's manifold approach.
That is what brought me to AMS in the first place. I love how you can drive a truck and a kart on the the same track at the same time. ;-)
Beyond that I think that Reiza's doing a great job in updating AMS 2 and improving it.

I think with the success and praise their competition is getting I think it's a smart move to steer away from sports car racing, at least for the time being. The cars feel like they're driving on dirt most of the time anyways, so the new content is a good fit with AMS2's physics engine

Reminds me of my discussion with Renato (his response in the screenshot below) on the Reiza forums after 1.6 release... fortunately or unfortunately AMS2 is quantity over quality by design. It doesn't matter if it's new licensed IMSA content (what I was "moaning" about) or some random combinations, we have to search for polished working experiences, whether it's DLC or base content, doesn't matter...

Oh man, Reiza forums... I've been there but it's just an adoration circle for Renato at this point. Every kind of criticism is just met with something like "you don't like - leave and never play this game again". And they have this ridiculous gif of worshipping Reiza logo by throwing it in the air LOL
It's a shame that Renato is so arrogant because they have the best engine when it comes to visuals/performance, best VR and best classic content. They could have a real quality product overall if they trimmed some fat and listened to constructive feedback.

It sure warms my heart when people put the "winner" reaction on his comment explaining why I shouldn't automatically expect a good experience from a scenario that I got access to by buying like 50€ worth of DLC packs.

I remember somebody wrote a very reasonable comment about how the OFFICIAL IMSA content AI at Daytona does not work. Flat out awful experience with AI crashing in turn 1 and spinning and big pileups in the bus stop from the AI still having the issue of spinning out on their own when following a car ahead too closely.
I do not remember there being a good response and explanation why this is okay to be sold like this.
