Assetto Corsa EVO: Info On Next Release Soon, More Frequent Updates To Follow

Things have gotten quiet around Assetto Corsa EVO since its most recent update. The next one is supposedly packing quite a punch, and it might open the floodgates again, according to Kunos Simulazoni.

When Assetto Corsa EVO became available in Early Access on January 16, it was one of the most anticipated launches in recent sim racing history. Since then, developer Kunos Simulazioni deployed multiple smaller patches, as well as its first content drop as part of update 0.1.6 on February 19. Since then, there has not been much, if anything, regarding the progress of the sim.

The biggest news concerned not the sim itself, but rather Kunos' personnel when it emerged on March 7 that co-founder Stefano Casillo rejoined the studio full-time as Chief Technology Officer. Previuosly, he had been away from the company since 2020, focusing on his own hydrofoil sailing simulator project.

Interestingly, it was Casillo who now gave a small update regarding AC EVO's progress on Kunos' Discord server. "Sorry the update is taking so long. We are doing a LOT of changes in response to the feedback you have been offering since EA launch", Casillo wrote. "But the new release is looking really packed with changes, improvements, optimization and content. Just a little bit of patience..."

Official Communications Expected Next Week

Casillo continued with stating that Kunos will have "an official communication coming next week (hopefully)." Once the next version of AC EVO is live, Casillo hopes that further upcoming updates will be rolled out more frequently, as he stated in another message: "Once this update is out we'll hopefully be able to release stuff more often."

As per the roadmap released alongside the first Early Access version of Assetto Corsa EVO, the sim is due to have five new cars, the Circuit of the Americas, Custom Race Weekend mode, new special events, as well as replay tools and a gallery added. Additionally, VR and triple screen support will see the second step of their implementation.

With the concerns players have been raising since AC EVO's launch, it is reasonable ot assume that performance optimization is high on Kunos' list. VR enthusiasts will look forward to the next step of its support, as it currently is in a promising, but ultimately not very performant place, as our own @Christopher E also found during his in-depth test.

After the poor first experience I'll sit and wait and don't wanna waste my time with ACE at the moment. It was a big fail to release EA in this state. Everybody in my racing community lost their interest. I bought the game to support and hope it will be good in 2 or 3 years. (fingers crossing)

I've played ACEVO for over 65 hours now, reached three stars in every license challenge in the Academy mode.
I'm starting to enjoy it a lot and it now feels somehow odd to come back to play the original AC, which i absolutely love by the way.
I'm probably too optimistic but i believe that in 10 months from now the scenario will completely change and we will be enjoying a new milestone. Fingers crossed.

I was quite disappointed with the early release, so much so that I uninstalled and have no draw to reinstall until I start seeing they’ve really fixed up the game.

Their timeline is pretty ambitious, but there is no talk about the mods. They should talk more about what is the plan, but push the dates to 2026. This Nurburg area roam thing is a massive project!
I don't expect to play it this fall, but I expect to play it for many years, so I don't care if it takes a bit longer.
It's so funny that ppl are disappointed with an alpha, if it's not crashing then it's amazing...

Not last month it didn't, looks like you're flirting with reality again.

did I say this month, my point is for the ALL TIME peak, the best ALL TIME peak for a sim on steam.
I bet again ALL IN with 100 000 players with the Nordschleife ultimate track release ;)

did I say this month
No you didn't, but as I pointed out a 63% downturn following a 20% one the previous month really isn't helping it's cause.
Like most members I hope that this a blip and that they'll recover, but it's been a terrible start by what many consider to be the premier sim racing franchise.

Kunos needs to salvage this sunken ship , but unfortunatley kunos i feel they thought they could be Gran Turismo of pc sims and failed . Chasing money and forgeting their roots .
this "ship" hasnt even started sailing yet. are you people forgetting about their track record or something? cam you not feel how the physics are very very good and with a few ffb tweaks to make catching slides feel more natural it will be one of the best feeling sims? and forgetting their roots? really? ac had road cars and was very freeform and open worlds have become some of the most popular tracks. how is this not a return to their roots? people are ****ing idiots, just go play the ones you like and come back in the summer when the open world comes out and theres more cars. being able to put performance parts in cars in a game thats a full on proper sim is going to be amazing. its been my dream sim for years. the customization of gran turismo, the open world of tdu, and the physics of acc. wtf are you people complaining about, let them cook and dont buy into early access if you dont want to support the DEVELOPMENT. it is supposed to be a beta. thats why its called EARLY ACCESS. it isnt ready yet but you can pay discounted amount to access it before its done and contribute to testing in the development process. if you paid for it and didnt want that then it is YOUR ****ING PROBLEM. ****ing hell people are so god damned stupid.

I agree that it should be made clear prior to purchase that...
A: the game will require internet connection for it's entire and forseeable future.
B: the game will require internet connection throughout it's Early Access period.

The graph shopwing player numbers means nothing to me as there all sorts of reasons to not play a game, and it's generally understood that there will be a peak interest for most eagerly awaited games.
I made it clear I usually would be happy to support any sim racing EA title, but would not in this case until your basic facts/questions were clarified by the devs. Still waiting.

Currently yes, but only because they released a patch so you could do that because the servers werent working properly. It will be reimplimented in further builds.
pretty sure you will always have the option. either way if you want a more traditional racing sim then dont play this one. many of us have been dreaming of this. id rather have the economy be fully offline but im sure they can make it work and there will likely be good reasons for it in the future. im quite sure if the server isnt stable you will always have the option to just drive whatever you want.
