The latest Assetto Corsa EVO update has restored all online functionalities, including the progression system, car customization, the driving academy and special events.

Assetto Corsa EVO had a bumpy start to its early access journey. Still, with this new update bringing back the online features, the simulator's future looks bright if Kunos and 505 Games can keep up this pace with updates, fixes, and new content throughout early access.

"This is just the first step for the game economy and customization features but it's a journey that we'll look to enjoy with support from all of your feedback." - Kunos & 505 Games

The patch notes for this 0.1.5 update cover a wide range of features, from the in-game economy to individual car changes and adjustments. The real headliners are the re-addition of the driving academy and the new special events. Anything more than single races and practice sessions is a welcome addition for Assetto Corsa EVO fans.

Finally, the ability to own the cars rather than just choosing the exact spec and colour each time is available. In addition to the online features, VR has undergone a few changes, most notably in how the water spray is shown. The Laguna Seca and Suzuka circuits have also received much-needed collision physics updates.

I actually don't see the difficulty here.

To do the license/academy/buy cars/etc. you activate online mode in Settings - gameplay.

If you want to play all the content without wanting to deal with experience points, virtual credits, etc. you keep the game in offline mode.

In online mode I can only access the content I purchased with virtual credits. In offline mode I can access all the content unrestricted.

Restores? It was never available to everyone to begin with or until this point. You mean they are just giving us the promised features from the first stage of EA?

It's quite interesting to see how all the people who claimed that ACE would whipe the floor and people complaining about the state of the EA of LMU have become very silent now. I can only hope that this is a reminder for the people who prefer one developer and allways meassure with different standards according to their preference that the world isn't black and white and that most studios face the same challenges. The web based UI is a prime example for this and should also answer why LMU's UI has been quite clunky. Webbased UIs will allways feel less snappy, no surpise there. For the moment I will not touch ACE because there isn't much of interest in the title and I am generaly not the cruising type of person or into the selection of cars that are available. The track selection is very good for EA though and I would recommend everyone to inform yourself before you buy the title. All the information is there right now that people need to make a well informed desicion. If people get overly upset it's still well worth to remind yourself how the EA programm for AC and ACC progressed and where those titles are now.
As someone who was very active in the pre-release timeframe, nobody or rather very few people claimed ACE would wipe the floor with anything especially in its initial state. It is one thing to be optimistic and refute false information or react to prejudiced/unreasonable opinions, and a completely different thing preferring one developer over another. Now the cat's out of the bag, and I am happy to provide feedback on the official forum where it might actually mean something. Still, I am not afraid to state that it's rougher than I expected, but that doesn't reinforce people who hated it before it publicly existed.

I hope ACC itself gets some last big patch, after the Nords update the AI is so unreliable.

Yeah Peter we need AI to work. Work that will repair the following (not exhaustive)
-Pull out in front of you at junctions without looking
-Slow down suddenly for no reason and without warning to view a rare Squirrel in the woods
-Swerve into your path in a Fiat 500, when the road is wide enough for 4 cars and a HGV
-Do a 59 point turn in a road in the dark and rain
-Overtake over the crest of a hill and take your door mirror off
-Follow a car for several miles at the legal limit, and overtake it without indicating, 50 yards before a roundabout
-Reverse the wrong way down a one-way, because it's one way, and they have a reverse gear

Due to AI issues of current sim titles I went back to Automobilista 1. It isn't flawless either, but you can get around it, even if it rears its ugly head.

Am I missing something? The updates seem to be fairly meaningless...
- Special events - there are none.
- Game economy. I can just play any car still.
- Progression. No function in repeated Practice / Quick Race.
- Driving Academy. The "Licenses" option seems to be greyed out.

Just checking the download has actually installed...

Thank you Kunos for bringing us 0.1.5 today. I have now 600K in my wallet, passed all licenses and the proud owner of a Ford Escort RS with a nice satin finish new paint and beautiful chromed OZ mags.
I drove most of the day with great FFB to my DD wheel and excellent VR in my Reverb G2/RTX4070ti super.
A few race with AI, nothing to complain there either.
Overall very satisfied with my experience of this brand new title, glad to be part of the development in this EA phase.
Looking forward to the new developments, improvements and a way to get rid of the HUD when driving in VR easier than push everything out of the frame with the mouse.
Much obliged.:)

Wasn't the AI in iRacing good? I also remember there was a lot of hype about the Gran Turismo Sophy AI. If they did it, it can be done I guess.

Maybe they need a copy of this

:D

Hopefully this fix paved the way for meaningful updates now on. AI seems to be the worst aspect as of now IMHO. However I'm very optimistic about the title and will keep supporting it.

What the hell!!! Is this some kind of joke. I have to go through some academy to purchase vehicles??? I dont want some Kid's game. I just want to drive cars, which I thought I was getting when I purchased this. I have AC & ACC. This is madness!!!

Very disappointed. If I could get refund, I would !

See my comment above, turn to offline mode and you can use practice and quick race without bothering with academy and credits. Turn to offline mode and play just like before the update, nothing changed for you.

Is there a specific reason why my Academy Licences Badges, after the very first one at Brands Hatch, has become all already available and - above all - already populated with stars and best lap-times? Yours also?

I shall be sure to fire it up and check out the slide-show of a race to see the updates.

I've had higher FPS in powerpoint.

Not this article specifically but why is Overtake focusing so heavily on Evo? I love AC, AC is the only Sim I will even touch but;
Overtake, you're reporting on Evo like it's a full game, it's a tech demo.

At this rate it's going to be years until it's even comparable to AC or ACC. There are going to be dozens upon dozens of updates, if you report on every update up until a final release, this will become OvertakeEvo.gg .

It's overshadowing other news and ideas like movie discussions. Can I just ignore these "Evo news" posts? Sure. But I emplore you to stick to reporting only on this "game" when there are MAJOR milestones.

So what kind of news where you expecting to see on a racing games website ? what dress is Jennifer lopes taking to the oscars this year ? or what important news from any other race sim/game did we miss because of this info ?

Complaining about an early access title being early access while simultaneously complaining about a sim racing website reporting on sim racing news. I remember when the comments on this site used to be helpful. It seems the vast majority of comments are man children throwing tantrums. Also, if you love AC so much, go drive that and stop commenting on posts related to Evo. WTF is wrong with some of you ?
