The latest Assetto Corsa EVO update has restored all online functionalities, including the progression system, car customization, the driving academy and special events.

Assetto Corsa EVO had a bumpy start to its early access journey. Still, with this new update bringing back the online features, the simulator's future looks bright if Kunos and 505 Games can keep up this pace with updates, fixes, and new content throughout early access.

"This is just the first step for the game economy and customization features but it's a journey that we'll look to enjoy with support from all of your feedback." - Kunos & 505 Games

The patch notes for this 0.1.5 update cover a wide range of features, from the in-game economy to individual car changes and adjustments. The real headliners are the re-addition of the driving academy and the new special events. Anything more than single races and practice sessions is a welcome addition for Assetto Corsa EVO fans.

Finally, the ability to own the cars rather than just choosing the exact spec and colour each time is available. In addition to the online features, VR has undergone a few changes, most notably in how the water spray is shown. The Laguna Seca and Suzuka circuits have also received much-needed collision physics updates.

No, it shows that it isn't working as you intended. Marco stated that you could jump in and drive any car/track combo you want without having to deal with the game economy system. By going offline you can do exactly that. As to whether this will be the final form, or if it changes, remain to be seen. But as for right now, it is working exactly like he said.
Doesn't really matter how ancient games worked, the gaming world is not the same as it was 10+ years ago.
The argument of "it doesn't matter, because times have moved on" is the worst excuse for anything that is released nowadays and works worse than stuff that we consider oldschool but worked better twenty years ago. With that argument you can justify everything as being crap, just because it's released in 2025. We don't have to label everything as "progress". And with the general sh*tstorm that ACE has recieved so far for having content locked behind online connectivity and the stability issues of the backend I would be pretty worried as a developer and take it seriously and not put it aside as "working as intended". Linking customization (wich is a core feature that they advertized before release) to unstable backends that don't work properly is equaly stupid. If customization is only cosmetical you might get away with it but not if users just want to try a performance upgrade or a different rear wing for their car in a private session. I hope you see that this isn't trivial.

Has anybody informed the anti-online only crowd, along with the anti-license tests crowd, that if you go into settings, gameplay/HUD, online offline slider...set slider to offline, hit apply, and you can use any car/track combo you want in practice and race modes. You can even customize the car, it just won't save when you leave the game.
Doesn't work for me. Game tries to force me to purchase a car from the beginning without letting me access any settings menu before this. In the last menu I'm apparently stuck in a dead end, from which I can't escape any other way than terminating the whole game with ALT+F4, because the one and only BACK-Button doesn't work. I am not interested in career or online mode at all, I just want to use the existing content offline. Kunos didn't state that career mode is mandatory.

Well then something must be wrong "your" side, mate. I strongly advice to reinstall the whole game from ground zero and give it a fresh start because - hear hear - it runs pretty well on my old system with a processor way below minimum specs and a poor GTX graphic card from 2019 (obviously in single player mode, ultra settings in 1920x1080). I had just a few issues with the online licenses during the first 2 days but now it works pretty well... In offline mode i can use all the cars and tracks released so far right since Jan 16, so i don't see why you shouldn't be able too.

Good to see the academy opened up, Except its not an academy.Just a series of tasks, with limited options for learning as it seems to be more a demonstration of how the cars present themselves as different, none of which brings any benefit to the timed lap as that car also handles completely differently.

That ain't how learning a car or track works.

Anyhow, The online mode proves itself completely redundant aside from being an annoyance, the BIG BRIGHT RED BOX stating I had lost connection wasn't exactly immersive in VR, and the saving of progress was erratic and I had to do multiple runs before my result was saved, and this was prior to the big red box that caused the end of my session.

I try to support every developer in simracing (with the exception of iRacing), just because it is my hobby for a long time now. I like some "competition" and to see what different studios can deliver...still I have a strong preference for ISI/Studio397 titles, but also look at all the others.

That's why I bought into the project CARS experience initially until I realised it wasn't a sim racing game... Just a random car game like Forza with a tonne of bugs that made Forza Motorsports look like a smooth experience...

I gave the 2nd one a go but that was worse... I moved on but then the engine was sold to my former favourite sim racing developer... Now I have to move on from them as well as they've partnered with the worst entity in sim racing and followed their marketing tricks... iRacing is a fart in the clouds in comparison to the harm done by SMS...

I don't get it: why should it cause people issues to this day? There are a lot of games (may I call it that?), that don't live up to peoples expectations. Just come to the conclusion that is not your cup of tea, and move on...

Take a good look at the comments in the AMS2 articles before the "Polish" announcement they forced... There was a lot of SP complaints in there... All well founded because even after over a decade the AI are still terrible...

MP side the Madness is even worse... Both of the last 2 races I competed in AMS2 in were marred by a lot of weirdness that you just don't see in other titles, one 30 minute race with 12 people had only 2 people finish with only 2 crash related DNFs... Most people can't race internationally because of the bad lag the p2p system causes... There's a lot of disconnects where someone is asking if they disco'd over voice showing their internet didn't die but the p2p system kicked them out of the race... I'm used to someone saying that then we all get shunted from the server... Similar with the weather, I'm used to one person complaining about rain and seeing rain, you can go an entire lap of Spa after someone sees rain before you see it whilst sharing the same part of the track with them...

But on top of that the UI code underneath Reiza's new paint job is buggy as hell which causes set up bugs, pit stop bugs and the 2 combine to randomly make people 2 seconds slower at ovals as they get stuck on the road course default set up after a pit stop somehow... The FFB will randomly cut out for a lot of people as well and with no reset button that takes them out of the event almost as often as the disconnects... Making me really question if it's ever worth practicing in the title... Most of this stuff happens to the competition as I'm somehow only effected by the set up bugs in practice/qualy and some FPS issues due to recent updates...

The fact a talented team like Reiza can't get on top of it says a lot about how bad that engine is...

Thanks for the advice. I ran an integrity check on my local game files within the Steam client, which passed. I solved the problem by unplugging the network cable from my computer before starting the game, then I ended up in the main menu and was able to access the settings menu in order to change the game mode to offline. I then quit the game, plugged the network cable back in, restarted the game, and now everything is fine for me.

A quick question: i got Level 9 within the Academy so far, and i've been able to purchase a few cars (a 296 GTB above all). Why am i not allowed to purchase some cars even if i got enough money? i.e. i tried to buy the Mazda MX5 Cup Sequential but it says "at the moment you're not allowed to buy this car" or something like that. Must reach Level 10? Ore three stars in all the licences events? thx

Might be related to race-cars needing a race license. I did them all in the beta, but since it reset after the beta ended haven’t bothered yet in the 0.15 version so I can’t say for sure, but that’s my best bet
