WATCH: Johnny Herbert On Sim Racing & The Return Of Lola Cars

The Project Motor Racing reveal in Zürich had a few surprises in store - and meeting Johnny Herbert was certainly one of them. Here's our full interview with the 1991 Le Mans winner!

It's not every day that you get to meet a three-time Grand Prix winner and Le Mans champion - which is why @Michel Wolk and I were very excited to run into Johnny Herbert at the Project Motor Racing reveal event in Zürich. A long-time F1 driver and 1991 Le Mans winner, Johnny was there on behalf of Lola Cars, having had input in the digital recreation of the Lola T70 Mk3B GT that was available to drive at the Racing Unleashed lounge.

You may have seen a small part of our chat with Johnny in our video featuring our PMR impressions, and a few of you have asked for the full interview - so here it is! Johnny was incredibly approachable, and it was good fun talking to him about the return of Lola Cars to motorsport, his (limited) sim racing experience, and his input in the upcoming sim.

He also drove the Audi R8 LMP900 car that was available to try within PMR in real life, by the way: Between 2001 and 2004, he ran the car in the American Le Mans Series, Le Mans Endurance Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (with 2004 in the Bentley Speed 8 as an exception).

He is currently an ambassador for Lola, and if you are attending a Formula E event anytime soon, chances are you might run into Johnny. For me, it was very cool to run into a driver that I used to watch on TV every other Sunday growing up - and rest assured: Johnny is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about racing. No wonder our talk went on for quite a while even after the camera was off.

Either Yannick is a full 2 + metres tall or Johnny is a mere 1.5 metres tall. I'm guessing the latter as he had to fit into an F1 car of the time.

Good interview by the way - Johnny has attracted an unreasonable amount of unwarranted crap of late, and it's good to see him smiling.

Glad you enjoyed it :)

He is not exactly tall, but I'm not at 2 meters either (1.87, in fact), so the truth is somewhere in between :D
