Its release is around the corner, and we got to play the game already - here are our first impressions of JDM: Japanese Drift Master!
Enthusiasts of Japanese car culture are living in good times in 2025: Tokyo Xtreme Racer hit Early Access in late January, and the release of JDM: Japanese Drift Master is now imminent after the launch had to be postponed from its supposed March 26 date.
On May 21, the wait will finally be over, as JDM: Japanese Drift Master is set to release on Steam, Epic Games and GOG.
We got the chance to play the game ahead of its release, which our own Subuaru superfan @Michel Wolk was so eager to do that he had to take you along for the ride. Check out his first impressions in the embedded video at the top of this article!
JDM features a mix of fictional and officially licensed cars from Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Subaru. They are highly customizable, so you not only get to drift the cars, but also to do so in your own style. The game is set in the fictional Guntama prefecture, which is heavily inspired by real roads. It also features a story mode that relies on Manga to tell its plot. And, of course, there is a Eurobeat radio station - an absolute must for a drifting game.
