Strap in and make sure you use that heavy right foot as you try to escape the ever-rising level of flood water chasing you down as you scale the treacherous heights of the 'Flood Escape' gamemode in BeamNG.drive!
The plugin is straightforward to set up, especially for single-player users. All you must do is install the mod through the in-game repository and assign a button on your wheel or keyboard to the 'Flood UI' control to bring up the menu pictured on the left below.
Flood UI menus.
Once you have loaded your vehicle and map, you can bring up the Flood UI and start looking at the different sliders. The most important one for enjoying the game mode is the speed setting, which determines how fast or slow the water will rise. This setting will have to be adjusted for each car you use, depending on how fast they can scale the map you choose.

The beauty of these maps is that you can use any vehicle you want to try and escape the flood, make sure that you adjust and fine-tune the sliders to make it possible to reach the top. Some of the best vehicles to use are rally and lifted vehicles, such as the new Hirochi Sunburst rally car, or the 'Adventurer' spec Gavril D-Series. There are also plenty of mods for vehicles that are designed for the challenge.
If you manage to make it to the top in a vehicle designed to withstand the abuse of the awful-quality roads, then try it in one of these: The Cherrier Tango, a free mod from the official mod repository that emulates the iconic Mk1 Renault Twingo!
The race-spec version of the Tango is arduous work with stiff suspension.
The first map we at OverTake would recommend to start with is creator Spencer Johnson's 'Flood Escape Crater'. The map is challenging, but completable in a wide variety of cars.
We recommend starting halfway up the map at the gas station. It will save you half the time it takes to drive to the top, but the real achievements come from starting right at the base of the crater.
Even the gas station is not safe from the flood water...
If you have not heard of the multiplayer mode in BeamNG before, the mod is an external application integrated into the main menu. The app allows you to play online with other players across various servers and game modes. You will need it to be able to play with others on the flood servers.
There is a separate download link within the mod page for the Beammp-compatible version of the 'Escape the Flood' addon, so make sure you install the right one! The online version requires you to use the in-server chat box to start and stop the flood and set the speed.
In the not-too-distant future, we at OverTake are considering the possibility of having our very own BeamMP public server. This server would allow us to create some great content with mods like this Flood addon and host community events as well. Keep your eyes peeled for the server!
