Assetto Corsa EVO OverTake Community Car Wishlist

Cover Image.jpg
Over the last few weeks, we here at OverTake have run two separate articles asking you, our community, which circuits, free roam maps, and vehicles you most want to see in Assetto Corsa EVO. From one-off concepts to lesser-known racing heroes, here are some of the most niche car choices you, the community, came up with!

The first question was "Which Cars Do You Want To See In Assetto Corsa EVO?". Racing cars above road cars was the outright winner, but some of the choices for circuit monsters, as well as the road-going beasts, caught our attention.

1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic

One specific car that would be a real treat to drive would be @Midnight's suggestion of the 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, a car made in single digits and one of the most stylish and desirable cars of the 1930s. A true unicorn, this Bugatti has just two known examples that are relatively era original and a further one that has been missing for decades.

One of the most bizarre, elusive and expensive cars in the world, the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic has a really low stance, a surprisingly powerful engine capable of achieving 123 mph and what would become an influential teardrop body design, thought up and drawn by Ettore Bugatti's son, Jean Bugatti. Many believe this is the ultimate Bugatti and the first supercar ever made.

Powered by the now historic and discontinued 3.3-litre inline-8, the 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic was given Bugatti's first evolution of a supercharger. We may not be able to drive this car in real life, unless you own one of the two remaining examples, but this is another fantastic reason to include this incredible vehicle from a somewhat unappreciated era of cars in sim racing.

Isdera Commendatore 112i

The Commendatore 112i was a concept car designed and developed by the small German production company Isdera. Introduced at the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 112i featured a compact and aerodynamic positive body, inspired by the days of Group C Sports Car racing. The company went bankrupt very soon after production began, meaning just one prototype was fully completed.

A V12 unit from Mercedes powered the car, the same unit as the Pagani Zonda S. With plans to enter Le Mans from 2000 onwards, the company also had a heavy Group C influence from the very start. The Commendatore 112i also shared many other parts with cars from a similar era, such as headlights from a Porsche 968, brakes from a 928, and an altered transmission from RUF, which converted it from a five-speed to a six-speed gearbox.

The story behind the name, Commendatore 112i, is based on honouring a legend of the industry, Ferrari's founder Enzo Ferrari. The man behind the prancing horse was awarded the title Commendatore II, meaning 'Knight Commander' in Italian.

For those of you who remember Need for Speed II, published in 1997, you might recognise this car. It is the only appearance of the Isdera Commendatore 112i in a video game so far, so seeing it brought into the modern day in Assetto Corsa EVO could be fantastic for immortalising this unbelievably niche German supercar!

I thought it was game over for this game, nothing happens anymore.
They arent exactly covering themselves in glory, they released a video with no real details on what to expect saying "sorry we got it wrong" after a month of radio silence and since that video was released its again been complete radio silence.

It sounds like they are working on a lot of issues. My guess is they are going for a patch so big, with so much changes that it will feel like a big reset. Still a little more communication would be nice.

the mistake is having so many road cars in the game . if we want a kids game we can get Forza Horizon
AC is the only sim that makes road cars justice. I prefer not having copy-paste sims everywhere.

IRL road cars are driven by adults. In sims road cars are a completely different challange to be fast in. Less aero, less tyre grip, less precise suspension, if anything it's a bigger challange to be consistently fast in. I don't see the logic behind associating it with "kids games".

We already have plenty of race cars every other sim... I want to see big and open road maps and lots of iconic road cars. Here's few cars immediately pops into my head:

Datsun 510
Datsun 240Z
Ford Cortina
BMW 2002
Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk2
Toyota MR2
Saab 900 Turbo
Renault 5 GT Turbo
Lamborghini Countach

Nice, EVO most new and remarkable feature is the huge freeroam mode and the whole list is crowded with racing cars completely illegal to drive in open roads. But even there is plenty of racing cars in the list, and im ok with that, the amount of road cars looks bigger than the racing ones, the "Racing cars above road cars was the outright winner" looks a bit out of place.
Dont know if i must laugh or cry.

Regards.

For those people that complain that there are too many road cars in Evo and not enough race cars, we have a list of existing simulators in which you can race your boring, high grip, low power, predictable racecars. Evo is more for simracers with above average eye-hand coordination and skills, that would like to RACE properly modelled, high powered, low grip ROAD cars.
