In Kunos Simulazioni's keynote video detailing the next stages for Assetto Corsa EVO's early access release, Marco Massarutto - Co-Founder and Managing Director of Kunos - revealed plenty of information including the modding tools that will debut before the title's full release.
There was plenty of information revealed in the Assetto Corsa EVO "what's next" video, such as new tracks like Donington and Red Bull Ring, as well as cars including the McMurtry Spéirling and what seemed to be a Ferrari F2004. But of course, what AC players want is to be able to mod, and that will arrive for EVO much earlier than anticipated.
Starting the video, Marco Massarutto in a rather fresh bit of honesty admits that they "got it wrong" with the initial Early Access release for ACE. Claiming that the team are constantly looking at feedback both in the Steam reviews and on social media platforms, they are taking this constructive criticism and encourage everyone to follow suit.
Many video game releases as of late have been met with intense criticism for being always online-only, even in offline events. Plenty of these games tend to become unplayable if they are taken offline either through connection issues or the developers choosing to end support for the title. Kunos of course will have seen the disdain for this practice and decided to go against it, which will undoubtedly be music to many single player only people's ears.
The roadmap will now be altered going forward, starting with version 2.0 of early access. Image: Kunos Simulazioni
They go on to reference that the roadmap for the early access will be tweaked, with the next update set to receive more content than initially planned. It was already set to feature five cars plus Circuit of the Americas, now it will feature additional cars with some further optimisations set to be made to improve EVO's performance for triple screen and virtual reality as well as AI opponents.
Multiplayer is expected for release during the summer, with the team set to focus on implementing netcode functionality after the release for early access 2.0 build.
Plus what will surely make many longtime AC players very happy, modding is set to arrive before the v1.0, so still in the sim's Early Access phase, with the hope of being able to figure out a way of implementing the model for mod exchanging into the game and iron out some potential issues before the game's full release.

Assetto Corsa EVO: What is New?
One of the points Massarutto touched upon is a greater attempt to definitively divide both the career mode where players can buy cars with an in-game currency (akin to Gran Turismo) and the open mode in which players can just select any car and track to drive without following any strict criteria. One aspect that many players will be happy to hear: no required online connection. Many video game releases as of late have been met with intense criticism for being always online-only, even in offline events.
