BeamNG.drive Extra AI Missions Mod Adds Crucial Gamification Elements

It is no secret that BeamNG.drive lacks gamification, meaning the simulator's game elements are lacking or absent entirely. This popular mod pack changes that for the better!

Originally released back in November of 2022, the Extra Ai Race Mission mod adds a healthy 34 courses across 11 of BeamNG's base content maps. If you are on less-than-optimal hardware, fear not. Select the rival group labelled 'Simple' to give a field of cars that will not tank your framerate once the green flag flies.

Outside of just AI races, there are also police modes and a damage counter to track how much damage you have caused in US dollars! It is a humbling figure when you are using racing cars or supercars! The police, alongside the AI traffic, will keep you on your toes as you run through the streets of West Coast USA or the long highways of Utah.

Another significant aspect of this mod is the variety of racing on offer. From rally stages to classic tarmac racing and demolition derbies, this mod covers a lot of bases. Make sure you pick the right outfit for your opponents to give yourself the best chance at a great race.

Here at OverTake, it is no secret that we love sim racing... BeamNG has always had the potential to be a tremendous wheel-to-wheel racer, but the title has never really encouraged it. It is hard to set up and a real headache to get right. This mod gives BeamNG fans a fantastic alternative.

Police chases add another level of difficulty to street racing in this mod.

You can jump into any maps listed above and select which course you want to race at and against which opponents. Imagine this mod as a 'Quick Race' option that you might find in Assetto Corsa or Automobilista 2. Once you have decided if you want police and traffic involved, it is as simple as choosing your car and opponent field before getting underway!

The race can hold up to fifteen opponents, and on small oval circuits, for example, you will have to have a reasonably beefy PC to be able to enjoy that. However, most players can fill the grid out if they go for an endurance race with cars spread out.

Custom AI​

If none of the AI presets take your fancy, check out the video below about how to set up a custom AI grid within this mod. This option is perfect for single-make races such as the Formula Four car and for much slower road cars that might be left in the dust by the much faster racing cars.

I always try to give the benefit of the doubt when comments chime in about titles like BeamNG.drive and others many belittle, especially on things like this that would be known. But clearly far too many have very little knowledge when they confidently chime in about things.

Thank you very much for helping to bring more awareness to the state of things in the sim space! It is surprising that many years old mods are not well known, but helping to educate with great articles can only help to reduce the FUD and out right misinformation.

Against a bunch of humans that I race against regularly this is perfectly fine...

But against AI I've been spoiled by the F1 series for so long that anything less than 20 feels like a empty race track... Add in what LMU has offered with the co-op mode and potential to be better and the endurance racer in me finds 15 in need of being tripled let alone doubled...

The community always finds a way to make things better so here's hoping this is just the start of the BeamNG modding gamification... But I do hope the developers add more racing focused features to the title in the near future to make it more than a rugged sandbox where "the building" element is the game...

The thing with Beam is..you need a NASA certified super computer to run more than 10 AI opponents. I can hardly run 5 ai and its a laggy stuttering mess. Not knocking the game, just speaking the truth.

Yeah it's in desperate need of some toned down physics for the AI so it could be run as an offline option... Most other titles that people rave about the AI are already do this... That's one of the reasons I'm mainly for MP these days outside of the F1 series...

But we could also see a ramp up of what the average home PC is if AI speeds up development over the next decade...

Which could be in line with when BeamNG is closer to being finished... Not knocking the game, just being honest... It's be a long slow burner which has a lot of potential...
