With both the F1 game and movies releasing soon, the Iconic Edition of F1 25 will feature a tie-in with the upcoming movie release. Featuring scenarios from the movie including a preview chapter and five more once the movie releases.
For many years, there have been talks of an eleventh team joining the grid and just as soon as Cadillac get granted entry, the F1 game present us with three avenues for taking the car count to 22. Whether it be your own entry in the My Team career mode, the continuation of the Braking Point story mode, and now a movie tie-in.
The F1 movie is releasing next month, directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris as F1 drivers Sonny Heyes and Joshua Pearce of the APXGP team. When F1 25 had its first reveal, the trailer featured a snippet of the APXGP cars, and confirmation that those who pre-order the Iconic Edition can experience chapters inspired by the movie.
It has since been confirmed that the six scenario modes with the APXGP team will release on June 30th, not long after the movie drops in cinemas so to not give away spoilers to those who play it early. There will be a preview available when the game does release, not just for those who pick up the Iconic Edition but also for the Standard Edition.
Content from the Iconic Edition can be purchased as a separate DLC pack for Standard Edition players should the preview interest those who did not choose to buy the Iconic Edition. The preview is set at Silverstone whilst the remaining scenarios will run at Monza, Zandvoort, Mexico City, Spa and Abu Dhabi. Each scenario blends gameplay with cinematic shots from the races in the movie, all taking place in key moments from the film.
Additionally, objectives will be different depending on whether players choose to race as Hayes or Pearce. But it is not just the F1: The Movie tie-in mode where you can race the APXGP cars. It will be possible to run a My Team career mode with the team as well as both of the drivers.
F1 25 releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 27th for those who pre-ordered the Iconic Edition, and May 30th for the Standard Edition. F1: The Movie releases in cinemas worldwide on June 25th and in the United States on June 27th.
