Version 1.18 of the game is available as of March 3, 2025, and adds new customization items, six new F1 World Events, extra XP rewards and a couple of fixes. Find the full changelog below.

Further F1 24 Updates?

With the new season about to get underway and F1 24 itself having been released in late May of 2024, 1.18 looks set to be one of the last updates to the game before F1 25 rolls around. As of writing this article, the new game has not yet been announced. Previous entries into the series had been released earlier each year, so F1 25 might be closer than we think.

Over the course of F1 24's life cycle, Codemasters and EA have made headlines by stating in October already that they were not planning on fixing invisible bumps on certain tracks in the game. Furthermore, there is uncertainty surrounding the series beyond the 2025 entry, as it emerged in September of 2024 that the licensing agreement for the games could be extended for two more years if "certain performance thresholds" were met.

In the meantime, those who are subscribed to EA Play or Xbox Game Pass (which includes EA Play) can take to the track in F1 24 at no extra cost. The game has joined the subscriptions' lineups in mid-February.

I know it's part of their (aggressive) monetization plan for the game, but the Podium Pass/customization things really detract from the actual good stuff in F1 24. The seasonal events based on real life stuff, the different challenges etc are all pretty good in terms of design, but they get buried in the same chest as those colourful-not-remotely-realistic-looking race outfits for multiplayer stuff.

Just reading the patch notes you can see there's some good love for the actual F1 stuff. Heck, the game has a compendium full of F1 imagery, but the UI makes it all seem all about getting "rare" fictional items for online races.

I wish they'd keep those two aspects of the game more separate but alas, it's EA.

It's taken them the entire season to just get the graphics functioning to an acceptable level. I personally think this was one of the worst F1 titles of them all. It's just a confusing mess of different game-play menu offerings. The title really needs to be an update year on year, not an entirely new game. If the likes of AMS2, Assetto Corsa, Raceroom etc can do it, surely EA can with their many resources! Personally, I'd like to see them invest more into an engaging Career mode, with more previous cars and tracks to include.

I just wish that the game would save any changes (ie. driver name change, etc). It continually states it is unable to access online status. Very weird.

They say all this about only extending the licence if thresholds are met. There is no developer that could do the sort of job codemasters do year in year out with it. And I doubt any developer would have the resources to even get a new game off the ground. Anyone that thinks otherwise is deluded.

If it had the same style career mode as Milestones MotoGP where it forces you to start in a lower class then earn your way to a top drive it would be great.

Of course it could be done. They would have to base it off an existing platform, build a project team with capability, and probably suffer few delays and have a rough first couple of years.

It would have significant risk, but it's doable.

"They were not planning on fixing invisible bumps on certain tracks in the game."
That's just the perfect argument to stay away from this game. CM can fix whatever can be fixed but if this basic required fix for a racing game is not in the plans what is the point?

I really don't understand the logic there, what is the message sent to the customers?

I see a couple of posts mentionning Codemasters but it's no longer a Codemasters game, it's an EA Sports game. So don't expect any long term fixes or changes. EA's modus operandi is to release yearly roster updates (or livery updates here) while trying to monetize gameplay as much as possible. The quality of the F1 games went down the drain the minute EA bought CM. I haven't bother with this game since 2022 and have no intention of ever buying it again as long as EA holds the license.
