The Forza Horizon 5 PlayStation 5 release date has been set: Microsoft's open-world racer is coming to PS5 on April 29, and will also receive a big update.

It still feels like a very early April Fool's joke of sorts: Forza Horizon 5, one of Microsoft's Xbox- and PC-exclusive flagship racing titles, will also be available on the rival PlayStation 5. And now, we also know when: The wait for those who want to explore virtual Mexico is over on April 29, 2025. The game will have the 60-fps Performance and the 30-fps Quality rendering modes on board as well.

The game can already be preordered, and as has become normal in modern gaming, there are multiple editions and a bonus in the form of getting to play four days early if you do click that preorder button already - but only for the most expensive variant, naturally.

If this shows up as a PS5 Pro Enhnaced version and runs better than anywhere else, that will be the icing on the cake. It is a shame how far behind xbox and forza motorsport have fallen.

If Gran Turismo 7 or even Forza Motorsport ( after getting their shite massively collected ) ensured the basic features of sanctioned body racing and then went full "Pro" mode with a monthly subscription for $5-$10/mo for leagues, proper user control of rules, scoring, configurations, and scheduling for seasons and enforced sportsmanship, penalties, points loss, and banning, their massive player bases would have a tectonic shift in the space. Having LAN connectivity as well for ultimate <1ms perfect racing and those who want to pull their race car off the trailer and put the sim rig on it.

Someday I dream of having accountability so there can be actual racing online.

Still they all need the ability to save even in the middle of a race. And have replays saveable and backed up to USB. I'm counting the days till GDPR EU rules sue micro$oft and $ony over denying users access to their own data - unable to be back up for safe keeping photos and replays.

As for Realms, this really looks like it has potential ( more so than ACE potential even ). If the neon Airstrip also has shaders for an anime look, or a retro 80s synthwave option, that just adds so much fun.

The original xbox beta motorcycle racing game that would let you choose shaders between cel shaded, wireframe, and others was and still one of the most incredible innovations. <must find video of this greateness now>

Found some images, but in motion, it was something all games should have as an option.

Wireframe as a shader option was a great way to spot "issues" in tracks. Such good options that all racing games should still have.
