After a long period of radio silence, the team at Kunos Simulazioni has offered sim racers a heartfelt apology for how the Assetto Corsa EVO Early Access has been handled so far. The video did contain more, such as a new roster of cars and circuits!

It is not news to anyone that the release of Assetto Corsa EVO could have gone better. But the developers at Kunos Simulazioni are passionate and have clearly been hard at work, implementing a multitude of changes and promises for the future. And they indirectly confirmed a number of new cars and tracks, too.

Assetto Corsa EVO New Cars

The latest AC EVO video by Kunos shows a wide range of new vehicles. It is unknown how many will be included in the next update, but any combination of them should be very exciting!

From the Maserati MC20 GT2 known from ACC to the illustrious Ferrari F2004, Michael Schumacher dominated the 2004 season to take his seventh and final F1 World Championship, it seems that there is a vehicle for everyone's taste. The combination of historic Alfa Romeos and modern cars showcases the diverse range of vehicles Kunos aims for in Assetto Corsa EVO.

  • Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT
  • Alfa Romeo 75 Turbo Evoluzione
  • Caterham Academy
  • Ferrari F2004
  • Honda NSX-R
  • Lotus Exige V6 Cup
  • Maserati MC20 GT2
  • McMurtry Spéirling
  • Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 (964)

New Circuits

The latest Assetto Corsa EVO video also revealed three new circuits: COTA (as was known from the roadmap), Donington Park, and the Red Bull Ring. All three circuits will have alternative layouts.

New circuits, Donington, COTA and Red Bull Ring have multiple layouts.

But new circuits and cars are not the only changes coming to Assetto Corsa EVO; the new custom grid selector and a nice-looking UI refresher will also be coming soon. These significant changes are a statement of intent from developer Kunos.

I full support the kunos team, i purchased the game, but i always don´t understand where they intend to go.
(You could answer i don´t have to understand !!)

If they want to recreate a AC 1 full modded, it will be very difficult to do better.
It is already an unbelievable good game.

The video was informative but uninformative at the same time. With all the info coming from sneak peak video or screenshots. They still haven't indicated a time frame for the new road map or the next update which is concerning. I want to believe them but don't want to get suckered into something that's not gonna live up to the hype again.

It's actually very very very easy to do much better than AC1. The rain and night support is actually game changer. In AC1 it's a nightmare to handle these throught the hacks csp provides and ultimately it's never a great experience. AC Evo fixes that. And if AC Evo brings us more powerful tools than the frustrating kseditor then I won't touch AC1 anymore

If Kunos simply provides us, out of the box, with all the features that modded AC/CSP offers, plus those that AC lacks (e.g., rolling starts, etc.) and then-and this is important—have the good sense never to let go of it, then they will have a winner on their hands. Mods are great, but it’s best when those are paired with long-term developer engagement to maximize a title’s potential.

Alternatively, you can race all of this already, for peanuts, plus much more, in the original Assetto Corsa.

AC Evo offers nothing over what I already have.

Only trouble is half the mods for AC use physics mashed together from someone else's mods. And the fact that people have the cheek to charge for that sort of recycled crap on patreon is a joke. FSR for instance illegally converting rf2, lmu and forza motorsport cars then selling them for a profit.

Does anyone else have that bug where the car loses power, regardless of which gear is selected?

Yeah. I am sure AC Evo will be really realistic. When it has a working UI, people to race against, actual tracks, actual cars and does play like it's underwater.

  • New content of higher and consistent quality
  • Better graphics / consistently
  • Better physics - rain, kerbs, contact points / consistently
  • Better AI - not yet but the bar isn't high
  • Integrated game modes, leaderboards
  • Open world with probably more opportunities that we have today in AC
AC is cool, there are some combinations that will probably keep it on my PC for a long time unless modding will really boom on ACE. But AC is a mess in terms of consistency. CSP is cool but it's also a buggy mess of a gazillion settings that are not well explained. There is a huge potential for improvement and streamlining some of the core additions CSP brought for AC1.

I'm actually really enjoying ACE as a game, it clearly has the potential to be a great game if they achieve the goals they've claimed. It's just a bit hard to live with at the minute because it has barely any content and for some reason the UI runs at like 2fps whilst the rest of the game runs at a smooth 60+.

I have faith that we will see it grow into that game, it will just take time to get there. I remember everyone being skeptical about ACC when it first came out and now it's a massive simracing title. In fact, I remember everybody being super skeptical about BeamNG when that launched too.... and okay it's still in 'early access' but it's a great title too.

I think I'm most excited for the Caterham, I've not driven anything since maybe Live For Speed that made a Caterham that was genuinely great to drive, so hopefully I get to enjoy driving one again.

ACE is like the unfaithful girlfriend who promises to change. I’ll believe her again?
For time being, AC Evo is giving me a vibe of "rFactor 2 syndrome" - successor to a very successful and moddable sim (rF1-AC1), which looks to have a rocky start, uncertain future and nowhere near as moddable as its predecessor. Deja vu?

The enhancements Kunos have made to their tire model are already clearly evident to me even though they have stated the current tire model in ACE will be improved multiple times before v1.0. AC still feels good of course but ACE will be a modern version of it and that alone is worth much more than the $39 they are charging for ACE. And as for modded cars, the quality is all over the place. ACE will offer many new cars, all at the Kunos quality level.

Many other forum comments here show a lack of patience or a lack of patience or understanding of what early access is. Kunos are listening, taking action and have as solid a track record in the genre as any other developer. I don't see what the problem is, even more so at the current price which is a fantastic bargain.
