Assetto Corsa EVO: Info On Next Release Soon, More Frequent Updates To Follow

Things have gotten quiet around Assetto Corsa EVO since its most recent update. The next one is supposedly packing quite a punch, and it might open the floodgates again, according to Kunos Simulazoni.

When Assetto Corsa EVO became available in Early Access on January 16, it was one of the most anticipated launches in recent sim racing history. Since then, developer Kunos Simulazioni deployed multiple smaller patches, as well as its first content drop as part of update 0.1.6 on February 19. Since then, there has not been much, if anything, regarding the progress of the sim.

The biggest news concerned not the sim itself, but rather Kunos' personnel when it emerged on March 7 that co-founder Stefano Casillo rejoined the studio full-time as Chief Technology Officer. Previuosly, he had been away from the company since 2020, focusing on his own hydrofoil sailing simulator project.

Interestingly, it was Casillo who now gave a small update regarding AC EVO's progress on Kunos' Discord server. "Sorry the update is taking so long. We are doing a LOT of changes in response to the feedback you have been offering since EA launch", Casillo wrote. "But the new release is looking really packed with changes, improvements, optimization and content. Just a little bit of patience..."

Official Communications Expected Next Week

Casillo continued with stating that Kunos will have "an official communication coming next week (hopefully)." Once the next version of AC EVO is live, Casillo hopes that further upcoming updates will be rolled out more frequently, as he stated in another message: "Once this update is out we'll hopefully be able to release stuff more often."

As per the roadmap released alongside the first Early Access version of Assetto Corsa EVO, the sim is due to have five new cars, the Circuit of the Americas, Custom Race Weekend mode, new special events, as well as replay tools and a gallery added. Additionally, VR and triple screen support will see the second step of their implementation.

With the concerns players have been raising since AC EVO's launch, it is reasonable ot assume that performance optimization is high on Kunos' list. VR enthusiasts will look forward to the next step of its support, as it currently is in a promising, but ultimately not very performant place, as our own @Christopher E also found during his in-depth test.

It has been too quiet for a long time, even for an EA release. Official forum and Discord are almost ‘dead’. Is anybody even playing this game anymore? How is Kunos getting enough feedback on this EA release? For an EA game, I would like to receive more news on what Kunos exactly is working, reported bugs visible on the forum, and have more regular, so be it smaller, updates, to keep you interested in this title.

Lost any interest i had in this with the content/progress being locked behind a server connection. Amongst other things.
It had to be locked behind a server or people would be able to cheat in order to get the content they paid for.

I'm only complaining because it's a slow Friday. 😀
I have more driving games than I have time for... I can wait for this to be closer to finished.

AC EVO is the biggest joke in Simracing-History (okay Rennsport is not so far away but it´s another story).
VR doesn´t work(dealbreaker!), content is a shame and the whole performance are very bad.
Yes, i know it´s early access. but they do absolutely nothing to become a bigger fanbase.
sad!

I imagine we should have a noteworthy version of ACE sometime in 2026, maybe early 2027. No problems with that, hopefully they can come to grips with performance optimizations and AI quality...not that Kunos warrants too much hope on the AI front given their previous titles. Hope to be very pleasantly surprised on that front.

Haven't really touched it since the last update, mainly because of the lack of content, and having 100s of cars and dozens of tracks in AC I haven't gotten around to testing yet, let alone the rest of my library to choose from for custom race weekends.

So I'm definitely looking forward to further updates and picking EVO back up. I'll be looking for improved performance, race weekends, and better AI to keep me engaged.

Any updates on the SDK? I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to get ahead before release and start working on some mods for the new engine already, whatever distribution method they end up choosing for the them.

Let´s wait and hope.
For the moment i don´t know what they want to do and where they want to go.
The only thing i understand is that they want to make money, which is absolutely normal.

I purchased the game, don´t play it.
I will look at it after every update, and come back to the sim i currently play.
